Is that your own picture? It looks like one from the manufacturer catalog with the sea in the background.

This one is my new beast, being used properly !
2008 Subaru forester (2.5l NA, with low range) perfect for getting into all sorts of places

After playing in mud (actually just cruising down a gravel road with a few big muddy puddles)

    And on the beach
    [IMG]

It's the best car I have driven.
The boot will happily swallow a suitcase sized camera bag, a big esky and a heap of assorted other stuff.
4 people can comfortably sit in it for a 3 hour drive
It goes around corners very well (not as good as my wife's Impreza, but still good)
And can still head down the beach or an "easy" 4x4 track.
And in the rain or on the gravel it feels nice and stable, and very grippy, my old car used to become a horrible understeering mess as soon as it looked like raining

'01 Blazer, my third two door and fourth S series, love em even thought the mpg is ridiculous at 17 on the highway on a good day.
This happened today on the way home from what was actually a decent day at work. Still had about 8/32" on the tread of the tire that decided it was time to come apart, the entire tread peeled off at the steel belt layer. The damage is actually from when it jerked me to left, spun 180* and hit the 3/4" steel cable fence they put in the median between east and west bound interstate. Much less damage than I've seen any car come away from hitting it with.
And my beloved sticker, since getting that same sticker on my last Blazer my nickname at work has become Pew or the full Pew Pew depending on how good or bad of a job I'm doing.

I've got an '00 and '04 4 dr. Blazers that both do better than 17 mpg around town. 20 to 24 mpg on the freeway. A/C comp. locked up on the '04 today tho.******

Is it how you drive or a cooler climate or what have you done to them? I had another '01 and a '93 with the tbi 4.3 with a manual transmission, and my best friend had a '00 four door that only got 17-18 also.

Cooler climate in southern Nevada? Got 24 give or take a little last year on a trip with speeds hitting 75 mph, 80 in parts of Utah, plus mountains in Colorado. With the mileage thing in the overhead console said 99 mpg going down the mountain in Colorado at 75 mph:). Kind of funny! The same thing says 18 around town. Don't know whats up? Done nothing to them. The '00 is not so good now it needs a tune up and is getting tricky to start too.

took the boy out for a little urban off-roading. cant tell but im only a couple miles south of downtown indy, homeless people thought i was nuts lol. they did just find a human skull in the same area.. i saw nothing of interest other than scrap metal.

thanks to the lack of rain you can drive out to the middle of the river.
