Upgraded sometime last year from a Samsung Note 4 to a Pixel 3 XL (128gb).

Every now and then I miss the stylus. I also wish I had micro SD. Even though I'm not low on memory or anything.

Wow, same here! My S8+ still works great, takes great pictures, but the battery life is definitely starting to go down, so I pre-ordered the S20 Ultra. It should be arriving this week.

I got a relative upgraded to a Samsung Galaxy S8+. She'd been still using an S3! I was working OK up until the charging port suffered a failure. Could not charge the battery. It was time. I can't even imagine what the S20 is like. My mother has the S9+ and it's a beauty. I was going to upgrade, but now that 5G is progressing pretty quickly, I'm thinking I'll wait just a little longer. I'm in no hurry. My stalwart HTC 10 is still holding up well.

Why not just replace the battery?

Because the :censored: are making battery replacement an exercise in minor surgery.

The battery replacement on my previous phone.
    1. Locate indent in lower edge seam of phone.
    2. Use eyeglass screwdriver or screwdriver on Leatherman Micra to remove back cover.
    3. Replace battery
    4. Replace back cover.
    Compare that to...

Planned obsolescence is alive and well in America!

Exactly right. I've replaced the battery on my Samsung Galaxy Tab S tablet, which is actually not that hard. But the Samsung S8+ and other phones, that's a whole other level.

Back in the day we could, and it was no problem replacing the battery on my Samsung S4 Active. But now now, and it's a shame that Samsung went the Apple route, having phones with non user replaceable batteries, and even getting rid of the headphone jack in the S20 models. Oh well, what can we do.

Plus, I wanted to upgrade my phone camera and see how it compares with my Nikon DSLR. From the youtube review channels, camera phones can definitely take great snap shots, but not be able to replace a DSLR/MILC for pro applications. But we'll see.

Boycott! I don't buy Apple iPhone models. Of course, seems I haven't made a dent.:frantic::smoke:

Received my Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra yesterday. Here it is next to my Samsung Galaxy S8+. It is a little larger and heavier than the S8+, and has a large camera module housing the 4 cameras on the back.

I have good success with local battery replacements purchased from Groupon. The same with screen replacement/repairs purchased from Groupon.

I don't have a particular problem with sourcing replacement batteries. My issue is that manufacturers have intentionally (presumably) made replacing batteries a royal pain in the :censored:, purely to keep their revenue stream flowing.

Just a few short years ago, LG made battery replacement infinitely easy.

And even allowed you to buy an external battery charger, so that you could charge your phone and battery normally, but you could also charge a spare battery at the same time.

My first cell phone had a charger that had two slots, one for the phone with a batter installed. and one for a regular or extended run battery.

I preferred it when manufacturers weren't :censored: in the blind pursuit of a profit margin.

That’s a valid criticism if no additional water resistance is is added.

I tend to replace my phones as bands are added or reconfigured. My current iPhone does not support 1 band which has been added in my home market.

I'm looking to move to an unlocked Moto G Stylus when it comes to market. And not for the stylus.

Using a Blackview BV9600E.Still works fine after dumping it into soap water so it's waterproof(rated IP68 anyways), but the flashlight window just seem to have some water droplets on the inside all the time, which is irksome.
