Usually my Sig P238, but on occasion my Beretta 9mm SubCompact. I generally carry a tiny North American Arms .22LR when I'm out running and can't carry anything bigger.
Summer carry 9mm Winchester Ranger T 147gr. Winter carry .45acp Winchester Ranger T 230gr or Liberty USM4 +p 90gr
99% of the time, S&W Shield 9mm with Critical Defense. If I have to pocket carry, a S&W Bodyguard - also with Critical Defense. If it's cool enough to keep a jacket or long sleeves on - a Glock 23 (40) again, with Critical Defense. I'm just about to the point now where if you see me - know I'm packing. I even avoid some stores, malls, eateries if possible that infringe on my right to bear arms.
Yep, really - reliability and penetration is the name of the game in smaller calibers. I carry the same in my P32.
Weird. I guess I don't know anything about them. I've also never seriously looked into anything smaller than 9mm.
I can sleep, comfortably, with my P32 IWB. No joke. Ive napped with it. And I have supreme confidence .32 acp FMJ (penetration) will do the job. I love my Kel Tec. Although 000buckshot is the king of the castle. Sent from my SCH-S720C using Tapatalk 2
I have a P32 as well but it was removed from carry rotation after the P3AT was released. The P32 are interesting, but you have to run FMJ as the .32 caliber round is a semi-rimmed cartridge and is prone to rimlock with hollow points. That or you can modify the magazine by putting in a spacer to prevent this issue.
I don't know that there is a lot of advantage in using JHPs in a 7.65mm, I'd rather have 100% reliability without modification. I bought my P32 before there was a P3AT (or an LCP) but I've grown comfortable with my choice and it will remain my "every day, everywhere " gun for the foreseeable future.
Even in .380 I would be running FMJs. Only in 9mm and up I would start using HPs. I carried a NAA .22 mag for awhile and never felt uncomfortable. They will make someone change their mind. Sent from my SCH-S720C using Tapatalk 2
Why not HP .380? Fiocchi Extrema XTP .380s are great performing cartridges, great penetration and expansion.
In my .45 I use Speer Gold Dots, 200grain hollowpoints. I really never carry .45 though. And at home I'm grabbing the shotgun first. I guess I just feel like .380 is still a caliber I want max penetration with. I will have to check out some videos of those Fiocchi HPs.
Can somebody send/link me an article about why you want fmjs in smaller calibers. My complete lack of experience is preventing me from thought-experimenting it out.
The small barrel on my P32 reduces velocity of the round, which in turn reduces expansion and that will effect proper penetraion of HPs. I want my rounds reaching vitals in the chest and rocketing through them. Also, FMJ is more reliable in smaller autos. Sent from my SCH-S720C using Tapatalk 2
