Norwegian laws that strict? Usually in Europe that’s ok. As long as you don’t store it, upload it (even like seeding), have no audience, and only watch for your own enjoyment, it’s legal in Austria.
Why do I know this for fact? There are “adult” sites, which trick users into watching copyrighted materials. Then get a warrant for the ISP to hand out the endpoint to the IP. With this they try to get money out of the user by threatening to sue them for copyright violation, which they eventually will, to prove a point. Happened here, but the guy wasn’t shy and went to court. Motion of dismissal was granted. The judge said, that the nature of the material was clearly implying personal enjoyment for the user and not public sharing.

Well... There is what is unlawful and then there is what is enforced. I will probably be safe. But then again my ISP started blocking torrent nodes a couple of years ago, forcing me to use a VPN to get what I want. So it is a bit more passive-agressive here. I call that 'plausible deniability', cause they know what the bandwidth is really for

For other reasons I am thinking about getting NordVPN and make a direct tunnel from my router. But I fear the speeds would suck.

    What can you achieve, up/down?

I use ProtonVPN and a 250/250 mbps fiberline (no router). And if i use a server in the same country I lose almost nothing, maybe 6 or 7% down. If I go secure core where they feed it through 2 countries where each server is extra secure I loose 40% down and 60 % up. And ping goes from 2 to 94. Add another country an i am down to 50/30 mbps. If I go back to non secure core and go through Australia I get ping 580 and 60/10

So it depends on how far away from home you go, how secure you want the line to be and how many countries you want to go through. And what you want to do. Day to day I go for a vpn server in my own country just to get around my Isp blocking torrent nodes.

Some want vpn in order to watch another country's netflix. I have made that work at times and iPlayer for cricket, but it requires effort and what works one week/day might not work later

Thanks for the info I’m going to think about it. My idea was to make a connection directly from my router to their end point and not per device. As I’m using MikroTik this can be achieved.

I have heard from several people now that it's good but I'm going to let some more build up before I start. I am not really a fan of these streaming services releasing episodes weekly
