I am rereading a lot favorites lately. I highly recommend The Lies of Locke Lamora to everyone. So incredibly enjoyable. I've also been reading Robin Hob's Assassin series which is decent. Oh and ninja turtle comics!

    LOL Thanks.

Apparently this version was sent to Jack Chalker by Leiber before he passed. In the introduction, Joshi thanks John Pelan (Leiber scholar) for getting him the manuscript, Chalker passed in '05. I remember reading about it in one of Leiber's articles probably thirty years ago, but never dreamed it would turn up. I'm still pretty geeked about it. Whew!

Just finished Black Hearts: One Platoon's Descent into Madness in Iraq's Triangle of Death by Jim Frederick. It should be read by every American in my opinion. It's focus is about a specific Army company's deployment to Iraq in 2005-2006, within which company four soldiers from one of the platoon's committed premeditated murder and rape of an Iraqi family during that deployment. In that microcosm the book illuminates larger issues of human psyche and morality. Certainly an eye-opener on so many levels...

    @ Dempsey
Where I work is mentioned in One Second After. They didn't get the rights to use the name, so they changed it slightly to Brougham. Pretty good book!

Ms. Brackett spins a hell of an adventure tale. Very much inspired by Burroughs, so if you enjoyed John Carter (the books not the movie) you'll probably like this.
