And by spirits, I mean the distilled variety.

For me it's going to be:

    Ransom Spirits - Whipper Snapper
The Balvenie - Double Wood (literally, the greatest... ever)
    Rogue - White Rum
    Mount Gay - White Rum
    Knob Creek - Bourbon Whiskey
    Glenfiddich - 12 year

    Oh god. I may have a problem.

    Knob Creek
    Bulliet Bourbon
Sailor Jerry Rum - I know it's a little corny, but it's good rum
Blackmaker Root Beer Liqueur - Tasty 70 proof booze that tastes like root beer!
    Jameson

I don't really drink that often. Really.

Obviously you are a man of taste and distinction. Like me. ;) If you don't like that, then man, you just don't like scotch whisky. :inlove:

I have a real weakness for rye whiskey, myself. Sadly, I'm not alone, and some of my faves are hard to get anymore, like Sazerac 6 Year Old. When I want a rye with a little more, er, assertiveness, Bulleit fills the bill quite well.

I'm not a big bourbon drinker, but I'm with you on the Knob Creek, one of my favorites. Bulleit's bourbon has a nice spiciness, since they use a lot of rye in the mashbill (note my love for rye above).

I also loooove a good Irish whiskey. Paddy is a favorite EDD (EveryDay Drink), but I break out the Redbreast 12 Year Old on special occasions.

I'm also not averse to a nice glass of ice-cold Belvedere vodka once in a while.

Not at all. It's sooo much better than that Captain Morgan crap. I left it out of my list, but I've been known to drink it straight or on the rocks; but my favorite usages is in my variation on a Dark & Stormy: a heavy pour of Jerry on top of Gosling's Ginger Beer and the juice of half a lime. That, and Beefeater Gin & Tonics, get me through the dog days of summer.

If you wanna expand your horizons, The Kraken is an amazingly tasty and smooth dark spiced rum, and Cruzan 9 has a little more complex spiciness than Jerry.

I don't drink that often but when I do, Jose Cuervo (Gold, Silver, or Patron) or Red Stag will be on the table. Jaegermeister, Jack Daniels, Jim Beam - on occasion... but I'll have what everyone is having... except that Bailey's chocolate-flavored thingie... just thinking about it annoys me.

    • Crown Royal
    • Jack Daniels
    • Knob Creek
    • Maker's Mark

I've been eyeing The Kraken, admittedly it caught my eye because of the label. (I'm an artist :)) Might have to pick some up.

I also want to throw in a vote for Hendricks gin. Good stuff! We also sometimes drink a semi-local gin called Southern Gin, made in Georgia.

I often recommend the Redbreast to people. There's a 15 year old version that I have yet to try available as well.

I also appreciate Scotch, though there are so many that I would be hard pressed to choose a favorite. I guess the Macallen 18, since it was the first one to open my eyes to single malts. Aberlour a'bunadh would be another favorite.

Tequila - Chinaco Anejo for sipping, or Hornitos Reposado for mixing. I recently bought a bottle of Dos Lunas Anejo on a friend's recommendation, but I'm still trying to decide if I like it - it's finished in Tennessee whiskey casks.

Bourbon (on the rare occasion that I drink it) - has been Eagle Rare, or Elmer T. Lee when I had it; but Angel's Envy has become the one that I need to replace now.

Vodka - anything of quality, it's just a mixer for me.

Liqueurs - Irish mist and Drambuie are my "go to" dessert drinks.

But yeah... generally speaking, I tend to grab a dram of Scotch before anything else.

I've tried Ardbeg before and I have to be honest I struggled with the smokey flavor, but your description there is almost a perfect fit for that taste.

It even gave me heartburn, but I didn't let that stop me from finishing the bottle. ;)

    I am a firm believer in drinking liquors from the places that made those liquors famous, so my favourites list goes like this;

Gin (UK) - Tanqueray (though I quite liked No. 209 gin that I got to sample when I visited San Francisco)
Rum (Caribbean) - Mount Gay Extra Old (I can't abide white rum)
Vodka (Russia or Poland) - Moskovskaya
    Tequila (Mexico) -Don Julio Reposado
    Port (Portugal) - Warre's Otima 10

Unfortunately, try as I might, I can't get a taste for Whiskey (or Whisky), whether rye (Canadian), bourbon, Scotch or Irish. Something about it doesn't agree with me. I really wish I could learn to appreciate them.

Oh well - probably saves me a bunch of money and future dialysis.

I like a lot of the basics, Jack, Jim, James, etc.etc.etc... But I also like the lesser indulged stuff. I love to just sip a glass of Benedictine & Brandy (B&B) or a nip of Chartreuse. I would rather sip these by the fire till im glazed over, then party it up with the big boys (Jack, Jim, James, etc.)

Having just said that though, I'd rather have a PBR with friends than a double of single malt, alone. (Say that three times fast ;) )

I'm definitely not much of a drinker, anymore. But I still keep a few bottles of my favorites around for an occasional sip.

    Glenfidditch 12yr old
    Crown Royal
    Jack Daniels
    Jack Daniels Honey blend
    Fairbanks Port
