Here is my Kimber. I had the backspring changed out to one with a deeper magazine well and put a bumper on all of my mags. The flat butt of the pistol had a sharp edge and cut my shirts. You can see the bottom of the lamenated grips were cut to be rounded, not flush against the mag well:)

G23: Switched out the plastic sights with 10-8 Performance blacked out wide U notch rear and bead front, +2 extension on spare G23 mag, and +2 on G22 mag, (2nd spare when carried). Non-slip tape added to top of slide in front of rear sight and behind ejection port and on rear of each side behind scallops. Carried in an Archangel until my INCOG arrives.

P229 SCT: This one came with everything exactly the way I like it TruGlo front sight, Trijicon Trit. rear. Switched standard Sig grip with Hogue G-10 OD/black Chain Link. Carried in a Garrett Industries Slim AIWB or if driving long distance Miami Classic II; of course I play Phil Collins and the Miami Vice theme song the entire trip when I carry this way.

Colt Combat Elite: Blacked out rear Novak Sights, white dot front, Wilson 47b magazines substituted for standard, VZ Operator II slim grips, no slip tape on front strap. Carried in a Milt Sparks Summer Special II.

The Hip Grip and a Tyler T adapter are old school cool and work very well. Had a Smith 49 set up that way as a car gun.

Hackathorn is my friend's dad. Her and her sister were on the cover of G&A when they were kids!

To keep it on topic - on the rare occasion I carry a pistol it is bone stock.

Would love to see a pick of the G23 with the grip tape. Wondering if it would help my wife.

Do you notice much improvement in the ability to rack the slide, or is it more for wet hands or piece? Thanks!

The grip tape on the top of the slide aids in one hand malfunction clearance. The shelf on the 10-8 rear sight hooked on a belt, holster lip, table edge, shoe, etc.; the tape gives a little more grab. It does give me a little more leverage when I am ripping the slide aggressively. The tape on the rear sides of the slid offer a more positive feel. My hands tend to get sweaty and the metal treatment on GLOCKs make them rather slick to begin with.

How is your wife racking her GLOCK's slide? Just finger pressure on the sides or is her palm pressing down on the slide with fingers wrapped around, and her shooting hand aggressively pushing the frame forward while the off hand pulls back? The latter method is much more positive, especially with the difference in grip strength for a female.

Yes, been working on the aggressive pushing with the shooting hand...just wondered if the tape would aid.

Thanks for the input on the tape.

I think it will, give it a try. There are gunsmiths/machinists who specialize in scalloping out material from the slide to permanently do the same thing just with more class and better ascetics. I believe a one time member here Wolvee had it done on his P226 or H&K P30 and posted results. It may have fallen off or been deleted because it was some time ago.

I have a holster that can hold my Sig P250 with a flashlight, but don't often carry that way. Usually the little flash light is in my pocket and can be clipped onto the gun if it were needed.
