I recently got my carry permit but I can't take my gun into school (Captain Obvious) or work. I'm having trouble justifying keeping it in my car in a safe and then putting on my holster after work at night just to go home. Is there anybody else out there in the same situation? I feel guilty leaving my gun at home...

I'm not able/allowed to carry in my workplace either. But I put mine on every morning just as I would my socks. It gets locked away during the work day and then reholstered before I head home.

I was a classroom teacher for 34 years and was precluded from carrying while at work.... I lived less than 3 miles from my work site so travel time was not a consideration...I now carry any time I leave the house, as I did when was still working... convenience was a deciding factor (not necessarily the best one) I chose off body carry in a bag, or currently pocket carry

Thanks guys. I guess I'll try and throw into my daily routine and see if it sticks.

Make it a point to get used to the gun being on your body at all times except where you cannot legally carry. Mine is on from the time I put my pants on in the morning until I take them off at night and then it always close by.

I have no input either way on whether or not you should carry on your commute, but if you do leave it in a car, you should definitely consider a gun safe. They securely lock the gun to protect from smash-and-grab thieves.

Totally agree with you. I'm the same way. if I'm just running out for a second, or to my mailbox or something, I'll slip my Jframe in a pocket holster. Normally I'll have a Glock carried in a supertuck.

Thanks for the replies guys. Looks like I'm gonna grab a Desantis pocket holster and a car safe while I'm in school and work.

There are some international companies that do not allow "weapons" on their premises; including locked cars in the lot.

Don't advertise its in your vehicle, then you'll have no problem.

Heck, my pistol stays wedged between the seats of the car and has a folded t-shirt on the top.

I work at a government facility, no weapons or ammo allowed and frequent car searches as you enter and exit. As soon as I get home I go to the safe and stay armed until I go to bed.

    It really sucks

I considered the same thing. I've never had problems at work or school with car theft. Not to say if could never happen....

That is crappy. I work at a Fortune 500 company and they do crack down on some childish things. I'd be very taken back if they starting searching cars though...

Some of the largest companies in the USA do car searches for stolen items and weapons. I have been subjected to more than a few.

I believe it. I guess that's an unbiased approach. How do you differentiate between a criminal and a good citizen?

I conceal carry every day but when I absolutely can't I integrate a Kimber Pepperblaster. While it isn't a lethal self defense tool it is an absolutely great alternative; lightweight, potent, and effective

I seriously have epiphanies about non-lethals about once a month and I always say I'm going to incorporate them into my EDC but I constantly forget! Thanks for reminding me lol

Not a problem bud. While I prefer my LCR a pepper blaster beats throwing a rock.
