I'd love a GSAR, just a bit too dear.
OK thanks, I didn't know Marathon had a location there. I don't own one anyways but wouldn't of minded checking them out if there was a retail location selling them.
I hopefully won't be buying anymore watches any time soon. I've bought two Seikos and a Fossil in the last few months so my wife'll have a fit if she's sees any more new watches!
Thanks ! Case diameter is about 4cm and the strap width is about 2 cm.I took a peak at one of the corners of the strap-it can be replaced, the watch has spring bars, not fixed bars, which is a good thing. But I'm not going to replace the strap too soon.
Thank you ! Slightly disappointed that after I got home at 11 pm and put it on a rack the power reserve lasted only approximately 4 hrs, until 2:55 am (mind you I got back from work-9 straight hours).I shook it again now and set the time...Anyway, since I'm diverting from the point-I'll make sure not to expose it to it's "lethal enemy".Mechanical watches are far more sensitive compared to quartz analog or digital.
There are times I wish I didn't know enough about certain gadgets to be the one handing out bad news. And this is one of them . . .
Even a half-way decent automatic has a reserve of 30 hours. Even at a relatively low price point such as around $300, you can find a good automatic watch with a reserve of 52 hours. If you wore your watch for 9 hours staight, at work; and it stopped only 4 hours after taking it off, it's likely defective. When you get home from work tomorrow and take your watch off, check it again. If it stops again that soon, send it back. I really hate giving bad news. But a four-hour reserve on an automatic is no where near what an even simply decent watch would have.
Here are my most used watches
and my 15 yr old titanium beater watch.. this one has gone through hell.
Those are really nice!! HUGE, but nice!
Well, the good news is that the watch doesn't seem defective in this sense.Apparently my wrist and hand movements weren't "violent" enought to really wind up the mainspring properly (I don't make use as much of my left hand as I do of my right hand-at work, typing on a computer that is).The not-so good news is that compared to quartz it lost approximately 2 min.As far as I know, a mechanical watch should have 15-30 seconds lost/day as opposed to a quartz which should have 15-20 seconds lost/month.I think I'll take it to a watchshop sometime to get the intricate mechanism checked.
With a desk job, taking the watch off every couple of hours and giving it about 10 short, quick, shakes back & forth (not too violent) should get the reserve up where it needs to be).
2 minutes loss is definitely excessive. When you take the watch to a watch-maker, let him know about the problem and ask how much he charges to get it properly regulated.
Addendum: My mistake above. The Marathon I really want id the CSAR. Oh, and just in case, my birthday is in July. ;D
Casio G-Shock MTG910DA
Got my G-shock the other day. Love it. GW2310-1
Two great watches from two great companies...love them both.
Whoa that Victorinox watch is nice! I'm very jealous.
Thanks! Yeah I really like the Swiss, but I needed something a little more summer/biking friendly. I picked up the G-shock from Jomashop, really liking it so far.
Steinhart Aviation GMT
Wow, looks like it was ripped from an instrument panel.
Want! I bet that Victorinox costs a pretty penny, though. That Vic really is a classy looking watch!
And, is it just me or does the G-Shock look like it's floating in the first pic? ;D
haha it must have that antigravity feature
agreed ... that victorinox is one sharp lookin watch!
My Invicta is getting beat up quickly, but I still like it a lot. The Maratac stitched composite band it had been on for the last year was really showing its age, so I just switched it out for a 5 ring i've had around here for a while.
Anybody know where I can find a replacement bezel insert?
