Thanks. What has been your experience with the compass and the thermometer? Looking at a couple of models via Amazon I'm feeling uncomfortable by reports buyers are showing. Repeated reports of compass not being reliable; especially with consistency. Also (and I guess not surprising in one way) comments that to get reasonable temperature readouts it is necessary to take watch off and allow it to stabilize to ambient? I guess I would expect Casio would have designed it to not be so influenced by body temperature.

The compass function on all three of the Casios I have has been spot on. I calibrated the SGW-100 compass as per the instructions and it is accurate. The temperature function is dependent on you removing the watch for 20 to 30 minutes. I think it's more of an additional tool that has that limitation. It does work though and could be used for an approximate temp reading. Kind of like having tweezers on a Swiss Army Knife. They are there and usable but you got to take em off and put em back. If your at home you would use better ones, but when your not, you use what you got.

I know I wasn’t who you asked, but I have an answer. Hope you don’t mind.

My SGW-100 compass has been completely unreliable. From the first day I bought it, it has never held calibration for very long. Pretty much every other time I went to use the compass it would require me to calibrate. Had it for a year or so before I gave up on it and bought another SGW-100 (figured I just got a dud). When that one gave me problems (not as bad but still unreliable), I gave it away.

    I quit on the SGW-100 and bought a PRG-270.

A few months ago, I got the idea to try to fix that first SGW-100. I have reset the module three times. I tried changing the battery, but that made it worse. It won’t calibrate at all now.

After having one that was completely useless and another that was unreliable, I do not recommend this model.

Appreciate the feedback! That acclimation period for the temperature function is disappointing . I haven't seen similar comments on the G-shocks that have a temperature function (e.g., Rangeman, Mudman...).

Yeah, after seeing so many consistent complaints about this very feature on Amazon reviewers -- not all reviewers, but enough of the same issue that I do not think it is a manufacturing defect necessarily (my background is QA, supply chains, and manufacturing) that I don't think I'll be buying one of these.

Thanks for chiming in! I appreciate it.
