I've only had this watch since October 2016. Note it is a type '5600'. Original rectangular G-shock was type '5000'; and in Japan they still have one in current production IIRC; but hard to find in US. Original G-shock DW-5000 came out in 1983 - check Wikipedia. At that time I was living and working in Taiwan and I am 90% sure I bought one. Problem was the strap had a tendency to break and it wasn't as easily replaceable as they are now. So that first G-shock of mine got trashed. You have no idea how much I regret not holding onto it!

PS: I just checked Amazon. They have a Japan made GW-5000-1JF at $313; this one is solar and radio synch. By comparison, a Malaysian GWM5610 with basically same features is only $95...

I still think I've seen white bodied type 5000 in Japan described on various sites... Supposedly the engineer who designed the first G-shock always wore a rectangular white body G-shock.

LOL. Thanks,, but no. I have a few non-G shocks. Neither need nor want any more... Maybe on one of the watch forums there are collectors?

I had already butchered this silicon strap.
So I butchered it more for the beater Casio.

But for bed I wear this Timex

may I ask why you take all your watch photos in the darkness while using flash or a flashlight? you could improve the color rendition a lot if you use natural light. or this your signature style? I always immediately recognize that it is a photo you took :)

I wake up at 4am. I get to work by 4:45ish.
No natural light at that time of day.
    If I could I would.
