This is my Citizen Aqualand! 1994 I believe. This is what I've tried to do to polish this crystal or whatever this material is on it. To no avail,thoughts.........[IMG]

Probably not crystal. Probably synthetic. Have you asked on any of the dedicated watch forums? I'm thinking of watchuseek.com; Vintage Watch Forums; aBlogtoWatch; Folks who hang out on these are more dedicated to watches than many of us...

Well, got a surprise in the mail yesterday! A member of Wus contacted me about a Slava diver hommage project watch for sale... Since he his in Canada, and offered me a good deal, I pulled the trigger! Here it is! Number 57 of 250!

The band is the only one I have of this size, but I have a nice one in the mail already

I am guessing that the crystal is probably a mineral (or possibly sapphire) and not acrylic, which would have been polished through your efforts. Mineral crystals can be polished with diamond polishing paste and some elbow grease, but have heard that it is not worth the expense (diamond paste is a bit pricey) and / or effort. Sapphire would rarely scratch if ever in normal use (9.0 on Mohs scale, diamond is 10)

The original (not solar) had a national stock number back in the day. Several Navy EOD divers I know used them as dive watches even though they were not designated at such. They are tough. Mine is still in the family, passed it to my oldest grandson a couple of years ago.

For this week, I am bringing my oldest watch out to play. It is a Seiko 5 Sports I picked up in Singapore back in the 90's. Malaysia assembly of course. Stainless steel bracelet and case, both with gold accents. One of those sorta silvery white faces. Gold hour markers. Hour and minute hands have lume insets and the hour markers have lume dots. Day and date.

Interesting enough, the case on this one is about the size of the regular Seiko 5 these days and the crown is at the 4 o'clock position as it is on todays Seiko 5. The movement is the 7S36A movement; all my other Seiko 5 Sports, which are current vintage use the 7S36C.

Despite the age of this watch, and the fact that I only wear it about once in 8 weeks, power reserve is one of the best I have. Watch starts right up with a few shakes.

Toothpaste, headlight cover stuff should work IF the crystal is acrylic (plastic).
