    This G shock:

It is just on the edge of being too big for my wrist. OTOH, very comfortable; plus with the solar charging and the atomic time setting feature this is just about as trouble free as one could ask for! Pic 'courtesy' of Amazon.

It's Tuesday. This one pretty much is unambiguous to tell time on.[IMG]

Is that Casio truly atomic timed?

I think Casio uses that term because the reference instrument is based on atomic decay rate of specific radioactive element... This is converted to a time measure which is then broadcast out from multiple locations in the world. Think of it as a quartz time piece but one based on levels of both precision (i.e., reproducible results) and accuracy (i.e., how close to being a 'true' time) far beyond the vibration rate of the quartz crystal found in most contemporary timepieces.

Here in the US the radio signal Casio is referencing is based in Colorado; watches 'tune in' around midnight for a calibration check. All automated of course.

If you already knew this sorry for going down into the weeds...!

Incidentally. This Casio which had been running lock step with the clock app in my phone has actually slowed down between .5 and. 75 of a second. [IMG]

Not the best pic. I crushed my phone so back to iPhone 4S for little while.

Yea, I know I said was probably going to sell the black one, so why get the orange as well?? I honestly don't know. They are dirt cheap, so no reason to not try both.

Going still further into the weeds :), atomic clocks (that produce the time signal for Fort Collins, CO etc.) actually rely on the frequency of an electronic transition, e.g. in Caesium, which is highly consistent and predictable, not on radioactive decay (decay events are in fact totally random and unpredictable). So since it is an atomic level phenomenon that is the basis of the time signal it seems reasonable to label a watch "atomic".
