That's normal for a sweep hand on a mechanical watch. Great score by the way looks like you got a fantastic bargain. Now show us some pictures!

I shall try. But now along with everything else the computer reboots when the AC starts up.
And in this part of Texas that happens a lot.
Now the question is can I acquire a Nato strap in Houston?

The Orient was almost 45 seconds fast in 24 hours.
What are the chances that under the back cover there is a regulator like in my grandpa's old windup clock?
That needs a nudge or maybe a swift kick slower...

    Jealous^^

I rotate between a Gshock Dw9052 for work and a Victorinox military field style quartz for good.

Since I hacked the Orient close when I posted earlier it has gained roughly 12 seconds.
The back will DEFINITELY be coming off!

The back ain't coming off with the tools I have available. I don't have the funds to visit the watch kiosk.
So the Orient Black Mako goes on the back burner.
Good thing I have some pretty accurate quartz watches to back it up!

A minute or two per day is not a big deal in the grand scheme of things. Enjoy the new watch!

Agreed. My Seiko quartz never varied much, but when I got a couple of automatics you get used to resetting it occasionally. I just bumped my SKX007 back 2 minutes this morning. Not a big deal that I need to do that once a week or so. Besides, if I don't wear it for 2 days, it needs day/date/time all reset anyway. Part of owning an auto.

12 seconds isn't worth fussing over. If you want more accurate than that, stick to quartz.

Still have my Timex (T49451) in rotation, just recently replacing the original 7+ year old battery that was still working, but the indiglo light seemed noticeably dimmer. The stainless potmetal watch case has a good bit of pitting from salt/sweat/skin exposure, but otherwise the watch has worked fine.

It's also best to measure accuracy over say 30days because some days it may run fast and others slow depending on many variables.
Taking the back off if it's a screw down may seem daunting at first without proper tools but there are other methods using simple things like a soft rubber ball or a ball of duct tape with the sticky side outwards a quick look on youtube should see you good. Also pictures... :)
