Yep got the same one. Great watch and my favorite to wear. Purchased a bunch of 24 mm Zulu bands from various vendors and switch them out quite frequently. The illumination on it is fantastic. Enjoy your watch!

After my complicated chronograph died, I decided to go minimalist :

Use a reputable local watch maker. Don't let them talk u into new hands or new dial. Please, please, please don't mod that watch. It will only lose value. Just a cleaning and regulating is all it should need.

I am keeping it stock. No chance of changing anything! Just a clean and service. $$$?

Can't quote you an exact price. But yeah.... Never been serviced and THAT old? Expect to pay a whole heck of a lot. Most likely, the parts on the inside are completely corroded and will need to be replaced. Just an unfortunate fact with older divers.

Weird thing is, mechanical watches are funny in that they can seem to function just fine, for years even decades, without needing to be serviced. But it only seems that way. Mechanical watches need periodic servicing. (About once every 5 years.) That's because the watches can keep quite accurate time, while the parts slowly rust away on the inside. No clue why that happens. Just know it does sometimes.

Honestly, if you're expecting a price quote of only $200 or so from a reputable watchmaker; you're going to be in for a shock.

That's ok. What ever it takes to bring the old girl back from the dead.

My dad didn't understand the concept of servicing a watch. I own a tag heuer Aquaracer and a Monaco and I know what service is for.

I'm sure the insides are stuffed and it will cost a bit I was just curious if anyone else was in the same boat.

Always wanted that watch growing up so its the sentimental value for me. But $ means time. That's what I wanted to work out.

It looks like it still has the original tropic strap, if so, it's amazing it hasn't turned to stone and cracked.
