I agree w/ the "grayman". Because of the heat in Texas and Louisiana, if I see anyone with a vest on I am looking for the gun!

During the winter I wear a Filson wool Mackinaw vest almost every day. It's a great weight, has a lot of pockets, and doesn't look "tactical." I've only had my CCW permit for a few months now, so I haven't tried to conceal a gun with it yet, but it can carry a plethora of flashlights, multitools, and other pocket tools. It was a bit pricey for my sense of style (~$100) but it is incredibly well made. I actually bought another one recently in another color and expect both to last me a lifetime. I actually get disappointed when the weather gets too warm for me to wear the thing!

Isn't that a good reason to wear one? Especially in populous area.

I wear a 5.11 vest. Freakin awesome! Great for EDC, CCW, Photog, tools, everything and anything!

Couple tricks to make it look less "tactical" and more of the "safari" look are:
    Wear a hoodie underneath
Non tactical patches - I sport a Band and Sports Team patch.

I am happy fall is here, so I can wear my vest more often

I have 16 different vest's I've acquired from all over the world. However, my daily wear is a 5.11. It suit's my needs i.e. LEO.

    Yep. That definitely works.
I often wear mine with a denim jacket that has a "hoodie" hood on it (so it looks like youre wearing denim OVER a hoodie!)

I don't really wear a vest in terms of EDC because I don't EDC enough to really require one, but I do wear a fleece vest pretty much all winter. Honestly, it is the most comfortable piece of clothing I own, though it is a magnet for dog hair.

Same here. I wear a fleece vest almost year round, except for the warmest time of summer. Which isnĀ“t such a long time here in the north. A tight fleece vest is warm but at the same time breethes quite nicely.

Just wish I could find a street vest with the bottle pockets on it.
