I think this is the best place on the internet. But to be fair to usn there are some great people there too. But it is very clickish. Lots of great gear to drool over but nothing in the way of discussion. Anything even remotely political is not allowed. And the basic rule is, if you don't have something nice to say about a topic then don't say anything. So every thread is people agreeing with the op. It's just a different way of handling the difficult task of keeping a large group of diverse people in harmony. I've met several USN members in real life and enjoyed their company. But the vibe of the site is not what I am looking for so I don't visit there very often.
That's only true because you and I are members. Everything you said was true. There are no doubt some nice people there, but that place is simply not friendly or welcoming in the way this place is. Heaven forbid you crack a smile of have a minority POV. Now, would I like to handy out with Tiller? You bet, but then I'd have to face my wife.
There are a lot of custom knives on there. Many that I haven't heard of and can't afford. The Kershaw/ZT forum is pretty cool though. They have a guy who works for KAI that posts fairly often with some good info. I also like the various dealer subforums since they post about sales and discount codes and such.
EdJo, if you ever decide to go, don't ever mention you know me. They'll never talk to you then. Hi, Fozzy!
I'll have to agree, it is a chaotic place. Too many sub-forums and not very well organized. Most of the people seem pretty cool, but that is comparing to forums in general. To compare it to the atmosphere here on EDCF is not fair, we have a special island of relative harmony in an ocean wrought with storms. I feel like I don't belong when I see the gear, my most expensive knife is my Gerber Mark II. They don't seem to treat you like you don't belong, but I just haven't been able to get into it. I spend the majority of my free Internet time here, so I don't have much time to get to know USN or any other place.
@EdJo Listen to T.H.Cone (just this one time); he just dispensed some valuable advice. See? We are a friendly, harmonious bunch here.
