I did this and use it as a tank bag on my dirt bike; works perfectly with a shoulder strap with small carabiners that attaches and detaches easily. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Yes, I'd like to see how you did it, I have the Moab6 but it doesn't sit right. The Moab 10 sits better but I "lent" it to my son for a couple of days until he could get a decent work bag. That was in February....
I’ve recently returned to my MOAB 6 and I’ve just shortened the sling to as short as I could and still get it over my head. Works as a shoulder strap that way as well. It would be better with a real shoulder strap though.
Waiting on my shoulder strap from Amazon before removing the sling strap. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
An alternative... This reminds me of a discussion and posts by @micahtbyrd and @Chrispian few years back... https://www.edcforums.com/threads/pics-of-your-edc-bag-part-2.96703/page-86#post-1797114 It's a method of humanely adjusting the straps of a mxped gearslinger to carry like a messenger. Works for the Moab 6. No bags were mutlated in the process. It is a simple process of relocating the bottom strap connection by adding a grimlok and hooking it to any of the side pals webbing higher on the bag or near the handle.
I didn’t cut the strap off, I just removed the shoulder strap completely and tucked the strap tail with pocket into the water bladder pocket.
I always wondered how strong the stiching is on those pals loops at the handles. How are they holding up under daily use?
Some strap I ordered off of Amazon and I put the original strap pad on it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I ended up cutting off the buckles and sling strap and just using the shoulder strap with grimlocks. It’s now my favorite EDC! This is the way 5.11 should have made it in the first place. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Looks clean... nice work! And for that new strap arrangement the sling strap had to go. I see a Sarma pouch on the right pals.
Correct! The Sarma pouch replaces the pouch that was on the sling strap that I carry first aid supplies in. I also have a Torba Midi but I’ve found the modified MOAB 6 better for EDC.
I wished they'd remove the strap pocket and just put some molle there, that way I can put whatever I want there be it a pouch, phone holder, or nothing. Plus, I could orient the pouch how I want it. I'd definitely put my trusty old Maxpedition Barnacle on there and face the top reverse from what 5.11 does. It would make it much more useful to me.
I’ve carried my Moab 6 as an edc travel bag all over the world for years, and have a love hate relationship with it. Love the organization and size, but the strap has always been awkward for anything but cross body. I can’t believe I never thought to redo the straps... but I cut mine off tonight. Brilliant. Yup. Ordering some clips on amazon... will post up when it’s done. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Pro
