I did something similar with a 4-40 screw/ bolt, a fishing swivel for attaching a split ring, and a dab of loctite red (the permanent stuff).

The loctite holds really well for day to day use, but being such a small screw, you can still get it apart if you need to remove or replace a key.

I'd love to do this, but here in Finland we have these chunky (& high security) Abloy keys and they wouldnt fit :(

I liked what I saw and used a Leatherman Style PS. I only did one key so far, but am going to buy the smaller leatherman style and take everything out and put all my work keys in it. Only took me a half hour or so to do. The pain was getting the darn screws back in through the wrench. I bought 2 torx precision drivers from Home Depot for $5.

How did you get a hole drilled in that Nite-Ize clip? I have ruined a couple of very good drill bits trying to put a small hole in one of those.

I have access to a drill press and a vice. Just go very slow, use some cutting/tapping fluid if you can get it, and make sure you're perpendicular. If you have to use a hand held drill, chuck the bit as deep in drill as you can so that it can't flex and break as easily.

I was shocked at how difficult it was to drill through the damned thing.

Do yourself a HUGE favor and buy some carbide drill bits to get through steel. They are pricey, and the are prone to chipping/snapping but you'll never get through steel faster and easier. Tapping fluid is also a good idea.

I found mine on eBay :)

I have to many fobs to be able to minimize my keys. plus remotes for doors, car and motor bike will not start without fobs.

They look great,Fantastic idea. I think I will do that not as a EDC but to fit into a small Tablet fob and hide it somewhere in my car and one for around my house for if I ever loose my keys
