Think im going to stick with: First Aid Kit Hi-Vis Jackets Bottled Water Hazard Triangle Some Paracord Duct Tape Zip Ties Work Gloves Trash Bags All of that is fairly light-weight and doesn't take up much space With Flashlights, Pens and a multitool etc chucked into the Glovebox Blankets and coat added in the winter. Thanks guys!
I carry quite a lot in my car as we go to some pretty remote places (as remote as you can get in the UK anyway). I'd add jump leads and a tow rope if you can but only if you know how to use them. I've never needed mine for my car but I've had to jump start a couple of people's cars and tow some away. If you don't know much about cars then just plan to keep yourself comfortable until help arrives and make sure you'll be able to call for help when needed.
I carry: Jump starting cable Triangle (law requires to carry it) Vivid coloured vest (law requires...) Work gloves Water to drink and to wash hands Duct tape Space blanket A repair overall to protect my clothes if changing tyres Warm socks, thermal t shirt and pants (base layer pants) as winter can be harsh
In addition to everything mentioned above, your car's owner's manual (I carry the paper one, and I've downloaded it to my phone as well), and a change of (warm) clothes. If you have to crawl under the car on a muddy road, it would be nice to be able to change into something clean.
