Boker Camper 7593 -- older carbon-steel bladed model. I tied a leather pocket watch lanyard to it, fastening it to a beltloop. [IMG]

Very first knife. Want to say I’ve had this one for at least 20+ years. Believe I was somewhere around 8 years old when I got it. Not sure of the brand. One day I’d like to restore it but kind of like the character it has.[IMG]

Oh my! Definitely keep the character, but keep it sharp and clean. Keep it alive and used!

I have only lost a couple of knives over the years, and have many that I was given as a child in the 70s and 80s. They get regular use to this day.

Against what I said somewhere else, I own one ornate knife. It was given to me by my wife. Little backstory: She knows my appreciation for Moby Dick and knives. So she got me this one. The scrimshaw (by Linda Layden) shows, as you can see, a sperm whale and a whaling ship. For us it’s the big white one and the Pequod.

Nice. I have a similar scrimshaw piece I bought in 1980.

Why not? It's a work of art but still a utensil. I've been there. But why spend a bunch of money on something you'll never use...

That's very true! Knives can't be truly appreciated until they are used for what they're for! Time to bite the bullet

    That Queen is gorgeous.

That Burl is nice looking. My Case Mini Trapper is one of my favorite Traditionals
