    Hey everyone,

I'm looking for an ultra-foldable, small backpack to be used in the off chance I need to carry more gear temporarily on my motorcycle for short distances.

I like the idea of a string style backpack because it would fold up really small when not used, but I also need something fairly durable.

I tried doing a search in this forum thread for 'string' and couldn't find anything - any suggestions would be appreciated.

    Thanks,

    RF

These are a small as they come but surpisingly good if you just want a main comprtment. This comes up a bit larger but I prefer it as an occaisional day bag when travelling for the very useful mesh bottle holders on the side. I had one of the second maxpeds there and it's tough as you like for a folding bag but for that you pay in weight and size when folded. Plus no water bottle holder. It can take a bladder but that is kind of redundant for a folding pack.

Id say string means risk of lost objects or protrusion.
With a drybag with strap you also have a pretty good crash helmet should you use one.

I also have a cordura fold away messenger will fit inside a closed fist & will hold A4 magazines and a good deal more.

Holy smokes - you guys are awesome. A wealth of great stuff on here!

I just got the Maxpedition Rolypoly that I ordered ... tough little bag. I love it.

Its not nearly as small as some of these others you guys have recommended.

I love the waterproof ones J4C3. Next up to order!

    Thanks!

Well this technically what you were looking for - made by motorcyclists, for motorcyclists - but I like the sea to summit recommendations more .

I must admit, even though I posted the MaxP ones, I've just ordered a sea to summit bag to see what it's like. I was initially put off because the crinkly look of the material (in the pictures I've seen) looked cheap, but it's price I couldn't argue with. I plan to use it for shopping as I always seem to be without a bag when the missus calls with a list...

One thing I've not seen mentioned about the maxp bag is the closure at the top - is it just the velcro flap or does it have a drawstring / zip arrangement?
