I received my Eco-Drive from Amazon yesterday. (no sticker) Thank you all for your input and opinions. At this point, I am very pleased with the watch. I do have to admit though... I think I've been bitten by the watch bug. Meaning, the 5 will be finding its way to my home in the not too distant future.

Thanks again for all the help!

If I could only have one watch for under $100, it would be a Baby-G 141, or Mudman for a guy.

one of these was my first proper watch, bought for my 14th birthday (coming up 5 years ago), and has hardly left my wrist since.
the only problem with it was that the strap tended to get a bit nasty because being canvas, it absorbed sweat and other gunk, although a good application of hot water and washing up liquid would sort it.
after a couple of years the strap fell apart, and needed replacing, but apart from that it's still going strong.

    For under $100 ??

Maybe for a used one that's been horribly abused.

I would say G-shock. Cheap, durable, strong and reliable.

I'd say an Seiko 5 automatic would be a nice choice. Will most probably be my next watch purchase.

Old thread revived! Had I seen it before I would of voted for the same:

    Everyday watch: g shock 5600 or 6900

Dress/diver: invicta 8926 - 24 jewel, seiko hacking movement, clear case back, screw down crown, 200m water resistance.

    What's not to love?

The Invicta 8926 has a 21 jewel Citizen Miyota movement that doesn't hack, but it does hand wind.

I had a few questions about my new seiko 5 Military. I hit on Amazon Reviews and learned a lot there. For 30m water resistant, guys dive with it no problem. Still on the fence about a strap right now.

How long have you had this one? Newer models do use a Seiko movement, the NH35. And Invicta now signs the Rotor. There was a period 1-2 years ago when new models were entering distribution, that which movement you'd get was a guessing game.

If it's still under $100, that's an even better deal. It was already a great deal with the Miyota movement.

Here's the new one I just got today for $79.

24 jewel, seiko hacking movement and manual winding, clear case back, screw down crown, 200m water resistant watch for $13 a month for six months for a total of $79 and change? It's a no brainer.

If you want to go digital, the
g shock dw5600 is a good choice. Work horse of a watch and 1 battery can last over 10 years, and for some over 15! Great module as well. You can see the time on the upper right while on timer or countdown mode.

If you want to go solar and atomic, the gw6900 is also way less than $100. You get an accurate to the second watch that's tough as nails.
