Ok, I've poked around a bit and can't seem to find this particular question.

I have never worn a watch and would like to start but I have a fairly limited budget. So, what are some of the best "bang for the buck" in EDC watches under $100?

Being under $100 is really limiting yourself.

    I would suggest either a G-Shock (I use the DW5600E) or a Citizen eco drive on ebay/craigslist.

Omega is my favorite brand but you cant find those for $100

I don't think going under $100 is limiting yourself, but I DO like Beneficial's choice in watches. Find a G-Shock or Citizen Eco-Drive for you want and you'll be getting a great watch.

I've got a 7900 as well. It can be had a little cheaper elsewhere. What style or features are you looking for? BTW I will probably buy one of the citizen watches soon.

My new favorite $100 watch is a Bertucci titanium A2-T. My titanium Citizen Eco-drive (with black rubber band) was around $150 IIRC, and my work watch, a Casio G-Shock 5600 was around $40, but the Countycomm adapter and black nylon band cost another $40.

At that price point, nothing can compete with a G-Shock in features or toughness. Pretty much every guy in my unit wore G's.

My vote is a TruGlo Switchback för $87.55 (ön Amazon Now) Multi-jeweled swiss movement tri-color tritium and carbon polymer case. All för under 100 bucks.

The most practical/tough watch is the G-Shock Mudman solar/atomic from Amazon.

If you want something classier, perhaps with a automatic movement, look into Invicta. They have a lot of watches for under $100 and some are very nice.

You can shop around. I managed to pick this up on a random forum for well under $100.

    Orient Mako.

Not only is it an automatic instead of quartz movement, but the Mako line has a reputation for excellent accuracy (among non-COSC rated automatic watches). Understated yet very good-looking line of diver watches. The black Mako, depending on which strap you use, is one of those extremely rare watches that can be worn for literally any occasion. From Saturday afternoon Pick-up game of football, to Monday afternoon Boardroom meeting with a new client.

Just under $100 on Amazon. My black Mako was so good-looking that it was stolen out of a secure drawer at the medical institute I attend. Oh yes, I will be replacing it with another one. Mako models are available in black, blue (gorgeous), Pepsi, yellow, orange, and the very rare limited-edition white.

Like amacman said, the Seiko 5 series is absolutely worth checking out. They range in price from very little to a lot and cover all styles. I have some expensive watches but this cheap Seiko 5 Sports watch I have (under $70) is a favorite and an insane steal: you get an accurate automatic watch in a fairly light and extremely water resistant case. Sure the movement isn't very fancy, but it is reliable, classy looking, and inexpensive. Amazon.com has a pretty good selection of them.
