Was looking to add additional Handcuff keys to my gear. Been carrying an assortment of various versions for years. Noticed that there is a HOLE in the gallery though. No TITANIUM KEY! So, anyone have a lead on someone that will turn out a few?

I can see paying around the ~$5 range a piece for them. Also could see where PLENTY of other people would pick a few up also. Looking to get 5 for now for myself and a couple buddies.

Really didn't know where to put this thread, so here it is!

Any interest people? Anyone have an Idea who would make these for 'us'?

I'm not a metal worker. Closest I've ever come is bending a paper clip. But from what I hear goes into working with ti I don't think you will find anyone who will make a key for close to your price point

Theres nothing illegal about owning these keys. Heck, my "plastic" and coin keys are more discrete than a Ti key. If there is a chinese manufacturer on here that works with Ti, they do the pricing more based on weight. Not difficulty. Threads are more difficult than 2 holes and a notch.

Big brother and dewildeman are both saying the same thing

I meant this in a good way. Like wow, why hasn't anyone made one out of Ti yet. These have been around awhile. Oh, while we're at it, add a tritium glow tube!

Unless your a LEO, what is the need for a handcuff key? I never quite understood the need to carry one....more power to those that do, but I don't quite understand it.

There is LEO, and many other acronyms. Military/ armed forces, SERE, Security, Bouncers, security experts, training instructors, the list goes on for legitimate reasons to carry.

I fit in there somewhere, I prefer NOT to divulge where though. I can (legally), and do own handcuffs/ restraints and have been properly instructed (trained) how to use them safely and responsibly.

I can send you a key or two for measuring the dimensions if you would like. Personally the one I would like is this one by S&W - only thing besides the writing, that I would change, would be to CENTER the pin. instead of having it on one side of the key.

Here is the "FAT" S&W Key, as we call it.

This is the "standard" universal key.

Horrible video, but you can see the keys in this video. NOT ME>>>!11.1...

LOL, uhhh, I guess if you are making these, the ring is "FAT" enough to mill Trit slots. Not a requirement, just an idea as mentioned above.

Otherwise, you can get these for a couple dollars on ebay or amazon.

I can photograph one on this chart here also. http://mykeyport.com/keyPhotoID.pdf

there might already be a file on these keys online on one of the free cad repos for 3d printers.

Here are some measurements if you want to get started. No pressure.

That Safariland looks nice. But same form factor as the key 2 I posted. The key 2 has a "Ring Splitter" which doubles as a flex cuff remover, Not sure what the small flat piece is supposed to be used for, I use it for a screw driver. I wouldnt need/ want all the filagree on my key 2, just in a similar finish as the one below, plain.

If you do decide to make the long form factor versions also, let me know first, please. There is a slight design change I would do to them that would make them hang better on a key ring.

    Your pic of the link-

Yes, all current cuff keys are the same with the exception of ASP and a couple other high security cuffs.

Here is the chubb high security key

As for the ASP handcuff key, you can see the slight variation on it with the slightly thinner profile of the "blade" or "tooth"

These are about ALL of the keys world wide. The universal one that is used by 95% of the world is the one I posted above with measurements. The pin on the back is to "lock" the cuffs from closing anymore when someone is restrained.

Personally, I would LOVE to have 1 of each of all the cuff keys worldwide in TI. On the daily though, it would just be the S&W fat form factor I would carry.

You can buy all these cuffs http://www.cuffsland.com/germany.html

Anyone getting a key could simply take a file to the key to fit the ASP cuff key profile if they wanted it in Ti. I could grab one to get the actual measurement if you wanted. They actually do work on most of the other cuffs out there. People prefer the larger blade just in case.

Apologies ahead of time. When I get on a project I am interested in, I tend to full dump info on the fly. So info might come in rapid succession without notice. If I do not put it out there, make it myself, or on paper, the ideas will be overrun by some of my others I am working on.

While I meant no disrespect to you or others, I realize that all of those you mentioned have a need to carry a handcuff key. I have seen multiple posts of other forums about folks who carry a key"just in case". My question is just in case of what? That was more what I was referring too.
I also have training in the use of restraints, but do not find it necessary to own handcuffs. I have used the flex cuffs in the past due to the fact that they tend to be a use and forget type of restraint. No tracking down your cuffs, no maintenance, and of course, no key to keep up with.

Looks good, just make sure we can still put it on a key ring. If you could make one in the original measurements unmodified, I will buy that and a trit version.

It doesn't ALWAYS have to be about cops, security guards, and feds. Some people enjoy the use of handcuffs as part of their love life. I frequently see plastic handcuff sets sold during valentines day for the same reason.
