TIHK came out with a new EDC tool, a tiny Handcuff Key that attaches to your belt loop on your pants/shorts.

They made it to be used for the Peerless Style Handcuff, so it's just a Universal key.

It is to be used only to counter Illegal detainment, so improper use is not endorsed or encourage.

It does look like a really cool idea and a small tiny tool that could come in handy.

I just wanted to share some information with you guys and see what you guys think about it.

I'll have to look that up, but I would prefer something that I would have on me even if my clothing isn't ;). I've thought about getting one of the plastic buckles with one inside but have never pulled the trigger, I'm not even sure if they are still available.

I already have a few of these. They easily open the 4 pairs of cuffs I own. I added one to my paracord bracelet, it's on the inside where it can't be seen. It's also right next to your hands where it's easily accessible. I also purchased a few paracord bracelet buckles that have a removable, reusable key built into the buckle. They also work great and you can't really tell the key is there at a glance.

I think that would be the first paracord bracelet that had a feature that I [/i]might, might[/i] use. :D

How effective would these actually be? Do Americans still use chain link cuffs?

Edit, the rope is a joke, right?

The police around my parts still use cuffs. That isn't my concern though, my concern would be being cuffed during a home invasion, etc.

Fair point. Concern here (although it just never happens) would be being cuffed with your own cuffs.

We use rigid cuffs, and there's no way you could use one of these keys to get out of them.

Ahhh, gotcha. You'd have to dislocate your wrist to be able reach around rigid cuffs!

Yep! If you front cuff (told not to), and with key holes facing hands (again, no) I can get out of them with a standard key. Tricky, but possible.

We mostly rear stack though, so it's not an issue. They are getting out only when we let them ;)

Alright, American police then... Do they carry chain cuffs? Or is it varied by force?
