I have a bunch of empty Tic Tac containers sitting around and I've been dying to find uses for them. Today the lightbulb came on:

    CR123
    [IMG]

    AA
    [IMG]

    AAA
    [IMG]

Three CR123s fit nice and snug. The container bulges very slightly, but that keeps them in place.

Three AAs fit like the container was made for holding them. Just a little extra space vertically, but the batteries stay in place.

5 AAAs fit with a bit more bulging than the CR123s, but still not overly so. A 6th could be squeezed in across the top, but it puts pressure on the cap and makes it prone to popping open.
4 AAAs will fit side by side though they rattle around inside.

I haven't carried these or really done any testing to see how durable they turn out to be; so far this seems like a good solution for a water/shock resistant battery container especially considering they cost about $1 and you get a handful of free mints ;D

*EDIT: I forgot to mention these are the 1 oz "Big Pack" containers.

Great idea! I've always got a couple of batteries floating around my work van this will work great and not to mention cheap when they get banged up.
    Thanks

You could always reinforce the container with a wrap of duct tape to make it a bit more durable.

I'm making a trip to Sam's Club next week. They have 12Pk's of TicTac's for around $8

Nice, a wrap of duct tape would be perfect for giving these an extra level of strength.

What size is that? I can't get a AA into my Tic Tac Plastic case (Net Wt 5/8 oz size)

If you see in the OP I edited to add that I used the "Big Pack." This is the Net Wt 1 oz pack. Sorry for the confusion.

Oh Man...as if to prove the need for a battery box. Without thinking today I stuck a AA battery in my pocket with my car keys. I stuck my hand in my pocket for my keys a bit ago, and they were VERY HOT and the batter was swelling. Luckily no holes in pants, my Streamlight Nano is not damaged and the battery didn't explode.

I'm still eating the tic-tacs from the 1oz. container. I bought the orange ones that taste more like candy instead of mints. Wish the company used a bit less glue attaching the label.

The trick I've found is to simply yank the label off.
I peel up a corner with my thumb nail, grab the corner with needle nose pliers and give it a swift pull.

Many times I get lucky and one whole side comes off clean, otherwise just a little residue is left behind which is when you pick at what's left and/or use your favorite glue removing technique.

Maybe it would work to wrap the tape around the label.
