There is a government e-petition to reverse the Canada Border Service Agency decision to ban knives that open with on hand. This new ban is affecting the import of many popular brands of knives into Canada.

This is a genuine government petition. If it gets enough signatures, it will get read in parliament.

    It can be found here:

    https://petitions.ourcommons.ca/en/Petition/Details?Petition=e-1552

Please take the time to sign, and please spread the word.

FYI. I clicked on the link. I'm not Canadian; I'm located in the US. I just wanted to read the petition. Clicking on the link though took me to an error page stating the petition page was not to be found...

    Thought you'd like to know.

    Hope this works out!

    L'chaim!

The petition is over 4,000 signatures now!

We need to keep discussing this issue with friends and family, and get them to sign.

For all the good it will do.

There were literally dozens of petitions with several hundred thousand authentic respondents against the GST, and look how well that worked...

Petitioning against GST is nothing like this to be honest. In 2016/17 the feds reported 293.5 Billion dollars in revenue. GST is 11.7% other than personal income tax (49%) its the second highest revenue source. Eliminating a folding knife ban won’t harm the govt books.

Craziness! If a knife opens with one hand it is banned... that's what I think about it! Guess I better make sure the spoon in my father's old SAK can't be opened one handed. Next they will say people are spooning to much...sorry...i had too!

All we need is a few hundred more signatures, then we will have 10,000 signatures.

Let's tell the government that this is important!

I wonder how it is going with the petition? I ordered myself a Medford 187f form Blackline tactical and had it sent to a US mailbox. I just have to go and pick it up. My friend who has the mailbox was supposed to pick it up for me, but he is afraid to cross the border for fear of having it impounded.
I am hoping my passport come in next week. I'll be down in a heartbeat. Flipping CBSA,

Basically, I'm giving this thread a 'BUMP'.

WHY? I'm just curious if there's been any progress on resolving this up there in maple leaf country? :)

I have no idea as to what if any progress, but a local knife store in Ottawa seems to able to replenish their stock without too much difficulty. Their Benchmade stock restocks fairly quickly and they even started to sell Spyderco, even adding new models. However, anything from KAI seems to have come to a slow trickle if not an all out halt. Edit: Case is back to being in stock as well.

I personally feel that the only way to stop this nonsense is to get saner heads on the hill, and we all know how unlikely that is.
