The woods are lovely, dark and deep.
But I have promises to keep,

Heard a great big "THUMP!" in the office today and went to investigate.

Apparently, a local hawk had a run in with one of our windows.
Good news is that after about 5 min on the ground, the hawk flew off normally. I guess just stunned a bit.

I was asked by PM to explain the grizzly photo's so here is the story. I was on vacation with the family in Yellowstone National Park around the beginning of July. The bear was eating the remains of an elk and was around sixty feet away when we saw him down a small hill. The pictures were taken as we slowly backed out of the area. No reason to take a chance and hang out my wife and I had our two kids and my nephew who for all practical purposes is like a son. This was the second grizzly of the trip the first one moved faster then me and was far enough away I didn't manage to get any pictures. At Yellowstone we also saw a black beer and her cubs. Overall I think the bear population must be up I live in Pennsylvania and have seen four black bear while camping in state this year. This year has inspired my to invest in a good camera I have been using my phone for years. The bear photos were taken on a borrowed camera.

The woods are lovely, dark and deep.
But I have promises to keep,
And miles to go before I sleep,
And miles to go before I sleep.

    swany--
re your bear pix a few posts upthread.
The bear was eating the remains of an elk and was around sixty feet away when we saw him down a small hill.
The pictures were taken as we slowly backed out of the area.
Good thing Mr. Bear was pre-occupied w. food, so your group could slip away quietly.
Your kids & nephew will have great memories of that experience.
Thanks for sharing the above pix & story.

Came home last night and found this in our front yard...

For a very brief moment in the fading daylight and under some trees...I thought it was a wild boar. When it saw me it came running towards me....appearing to want something to eat. Piggy seemed very friendly but ran off when the neighbor's dog started barking. :D

That reminds me of a few years ago I was out squirrel hunting with my daughter up here in Northwest pa. We sat down to eat lunch and could here something moving towards us. While when it finally popped out of the underbrush it was about a 15lb pink piglet. Stopped by a couple of the farms near where we hunt but didn't find anyone that said they had pigs. Good picture Survivepenna

He looks like he's seen better days. Nice to see a lunar moth I haven't seen one since I was young over here.

This is actually a still image from a video I shot on my phone while in Yosemite. I was filming a couple of doe that were just milling about and then this guy ran right past me out of nowhere. This isn't zoomed in and he really was that close. I tried to be carefully still so I wouldn't spook him as he ran by me.

^^^ Nice shot! Love it when unexpected stuff like that happen's. I was on a remote AZ project located out in the desert. When I looked out front window of our motor home, and a whole heard walked about 100 plus yards in front us. I was told they'd come down from the White Tank Mountains during the summer months looking for water.

I gotta say though, It's amazing how expensive Deer meat is! Since Calvin acquired a digestion problem over the past year or so. Aside from his daily meds, he's been eating Royal Canin Limited Ingredient Venison and Potato formula dog food. Well I'll just say it costs quite a lot, an the kid eats two cases a month!
