Got this fun item for the fam; they all thought it was fascinatin', and also maybe learned some stuff as well : Also, Nano Metalfigs was sure someone's bright idea (I'll allow it); pretty well-done miniatures, w/ a few licenses (like Marvel & DC), and they're a way to find the limit of the magnets (more than these 4 made it collapse). &, got a "hidden" Mickey in there, just for fun.
That's a pretty cool tensegrity structure! I didn't notice the magnets at first. Pretty clever idea. I've never seen one with magnets. I remember the first time I ever saw one of those; it was a chair (with chain and no magnets). At first glance I thought it defied the laws of physics, but then I was like..."Ohhhhh, I get it now!". As an engineer, it's really interesting to see the circumstances under which those types of structures fail and collapse. It's not what you expect. I saw one guy build one of these things out of steel plate and heavy logging chain; he wanted to see how much it would hold. It held something like 5 tons before it failed, but what was really interesting was to watch what it took for him to get it standing in the first place. He had to use a shop crane to lift it into position with the base plate anchored to the floor. Took several thousand pounds of tension to pull it upright and into place.
I liked my custom bugout so much I decided to build a similar mini bugout. The items below are enroute. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
A Maserin Pry-bar. It's beefier than I expected, which is positive in my opinion. Plus it also fits in the empty slot of my TFG EDC Wallet. Verstuurd vanaf mijn SM-G960F met Tapatalk
Hi, if you like (as i do) beefier OPMTs you may have a look at these other (Italian) pocket tools: http://www.coltelleriadallacosta.it/particolari.htm Cheers
I don't need them, but I want them all! Some pretty stuff over there. ;-) Verstuurd vanaf mijn SM-G960F met Tapatalk
Got a new Gray Ripstop Evade 1.5 inbound. Been flirting with it for a year now lol Sent from my SM-G965U using Tapatalk
Today by mail: the Knipex Pliers Wrench 125. It fits perfectly in the tool compartment of my EDC pouch and will be a great combo with my Leatherman Wave (which is in for repair at the moment). Verstuurd vanaf mijn SM-G960F met Tapatalk
You probably have another model. The cobra pliers are seen more often than the wrench pliers. Verstuurd vanaf mijn SM-G960F met Tapatalk
I just ordered the 7" Knipex wrench pliers. After I placed the order, I noticed the description said they are made of aluminum....that can't be right, can it? I'm hoping because it has a chrome finish the moron who wrote the description made a mistake. Anyone know if Knipex makes aluminum pliers? I hope not.
Per Knipex website they are made of "Chrome vanadium electric steel, forged, oil-hardened" with "chrome-plated" coating.
That's the description I found also, but then on two separate sites (the one I bought from and one on Amazon) There were references to aluminum composition. I'm going to chalk those up to the ignorance of the copy writer who assumed a silver color meant aluminum. Thanks for your response Tera Tike.
A long time ago I stop trusting Amazon and eBay descriptions, most of those sellers are just drop shipping and have never really held-in-hand what they are selling.
