Oh, and in case you wonder why I didn't use a dedicated notebook pouch from either RiTR or similar, it's because I wanted a green one, and they don't do that colour anymore; likewise, Maxpud et al appear to have ceased making notebook covers :(

Can someone tell me when the heck Olive Green went out of tactical fashion, please?

Maybe, but there are still non-arid places the various militaries deployed around the globe work in, such as Europe, North America, SOuth America, and so on; Chlorophyll in leaves is still green, after all. There is, therefore, a verifiable requirement for Green kit. Hence my empuzzlement.

I don't disagree with you. And if you haven't noticed, grey is the new black ;).

I'm very happy grey is gaining some traction. Really fed up with black outdoor gear. Especially some of my lightweight pants are so slick I almost feel like wearing a tie when I put them on.

Agree about the desert/ coyote/ FDE trend as well. Not much desert here in Norway. I recently ordered the 5.11 rush 24 in FDE because it looked cool, but when I decided to return it because I didn't like the bag (nothing to do with color), I simultaneously came to my senses and ordered the replacement, Tasmanian Tiger Mission MkII in grey. If the green had been in stock, it would have been harder to decide, but choosing between FDE and Grey was easier this time around.

Never have been sold on grey; I've found it picks up the dirt and muck a lot more visibly than black or OG. YMMV, of course ;)

I think rangers still rock some green gear. Could be wrong.

This is the exact reason I just purchased a Haley Strategic Partners DC3RX Chest rig and flat pack in Multicam. I'm anal as heck about stains and soiled gear. I figure the Multicam would hide it a bit better. I'd actually rather have gray. Of course, having some camo stuff is kind of cool.

Today, from Amazon, another Rite in the Rain notepad, a Magpul MBUS to try out (skeptical), FrogLube complete weapons care package, and a spare box of nitrile gloves.

Still waiting on the good stuff.

Does that match up pretty well with that gray?

The Grimlocs do pretty well, but the TacTies don't really match the grey of my Camelback Quantico. They'll be used inside to secure Kifaru pullouts and a hydration bladder so NBD...

Hasn't arrived yet, so no photos...

New Ivy cap and a Zojirushi 16oz. mug.

Also, it was "Amazon Day" yesterday, so I broke down and bought an Echo and an Echo Dot ($90 and $35, respectively). I will regret this. :nah_disagree:

OK, like Blackheart above, I went a little silly on Prime Day over on Amazon yesterday...

This is Part One of the deliveries I've got coming today...

    Clockwise from the top left:
    • A Condor H2O pouch, to go on the side of my 5.11 Rush-24 pack. My nesting mug for my Nalgene-style Nathan 32-ox bottle fits it easily :D
    • For the TFAK (Trauma/First Aid Kit), Physio Tape, not only for muscles, but to help keep bandaging I may apply in place.
    • Again, for the TFAK, an EMT Shears pouch, to keep it in place securely. It's got a single MOLLE strap to do that.
    • Finally, the OOPS moment, I misread the description, and wasn't paying attention (I was hurrying!), not one single cold pack. This is merely one of the bloody TWENTY (yes: 20) of the blasted things I purchased. Oh well, I'm sure I'll find a use for 'em all :banghead::rofl:

Yet to arrive tonight, a 6" Israeli pressure bandage, a CAT (Combat Application Tourniquet), a Vanquest FATPack 5x8 (Gen-2) First Aid Trauma Pack, and tomorrow, a Craghoppers Kiwi Men's Long Sleeved Shirt should arrive (already got one of those, they're excellent bits of kit!).

... what the [censored] [bleep] [boingboing] am I gonna do with TWENTY of the :censored: cold packs...?!:rofl::rofl:

And now part two has arrived :D

    • A Vanquest FATPack 5x8 (Gen-2) First Aid Trauma Pack
    • 6" Israeli-style pressure bandage,
    • and a CAT-style Combat Tourniquet.

This will, once I've figured out where everything's going to go, supplement my personal FAK (the "Boo-Boo Kit", which contains both prescribed meds and OTC meds that a first aider may not, under UK law, give to a patient), with a PTK (Personal Trauma Kit), which does NOT contain such meds.

The principle goal of the PTK will be for me to be able to deal with immediate serious injuries I might sustain (if I'm hors de combat, so to speak, I'm no use to man nor beast), but secondarily, to help others who receive injuries requiring urgent help, where I'm not hurt.

The PTK will sit on the outside right on my Rush-24 pack.

Of course, I have to lay my mitts on a couple of MOLLE attachment strips, as I forgot to order any for the Vanquest pack, but that's just Sod's Law at work ;)
