Well, you could probably turn this into a router if you are better at this kind of thing than i am. But this is actually a faster wifi enabled equivalent of an arduino, a programmable micro-controller kit. They are awesome for hardware projects (reading sensors, doing small computations, communicating and storing all kinds of things). This one will be my new 'prototyping' platform, i will test all the code i write and electronic circuits i fumble together on this one before i implement it on a smaller/cheaper microcontroller setup. I burned down my old test-board so a replacement was kinda needed ;)

@Westerdutch: see, that's what I guess for making wild assumptions! I've heard of arduino; never really got into doing this sort of thing myself. My hat's off to you!

Motorola just sent me a new phone so that was cool. An initial refusal turned into a new phone.

    I also ordered a Suunto MC-2 G compass.

To supplement, I bought the navigation starter pack from ITS Tactical recently as well.

I can't help but wonder how long the training course is to use this device to optimal effectiveness? Absolutely incredible looking piece of gear... well beyond anything I'd contemplate at least.

    Enjoy!

It's not so bad, once you figure out changing the mode and what each mode does, it's easy. Takes people longer than that to learn to use the slide rule.

LOL. I remember slide rules. Had both regular and circular slide rules way back in 'the day'. None had markings as tight or small as that watch. And with all those myriad of dials? You're a better man than I -- at the very least with more astute eyesight than I have these days!

    From 12:
    • UTC clock with 24 hour hand
    • Local 24 hour hand
    • Multi purpose display, Date, Dual TZ, setting information
    • Mode (at 6)
    • Current TZ name
    • Power and radio source indicator
Most of them are not used 99% of the time you look at it. Actually easier to read in the dark. (Only the hour/minute and ticks glow.)

Uhhhhhhhh....a "new 3 pronged, twirly, multi-thingy which goes "BOING", has a flashy light thingy which you can use to eat with while it also shines your left shoe (only) at the same time. (The one for the right shoe is a different model and costs extra)."

I never knew these things even existed until the other day when someone posted a picture of one here on EDCF...now I gotta' have one!!

    LOL!

I bought and received a Suunto compass from Amazon. I ordered the MC-2 USGS ( although I previously typed MC-2 G) model package I received was for a different compass. The compass in the package was an entirely different model than what the package even specified. I contacted Amazon. The actual merchant was Etailz. Refunded. Returning tomorrow.

Buying directly from Suunto is costly. The next cheaper option is LA Police Gear. I'll try that.

Interesting; they're the same price over here in England, whether you buy from Amazon or direct from Suunto. Shocked that the one via Amazon was a re-boxed wrong model, too

Glad you got a refund without any quibbling, though. Wonder how long etailz will last on Amazon now?
