Here's some items I got a few weeks back from Smoky Mountain Knife Works and quite frankly forgot about until I opened the bag they were in this morning. All were inexpensive items Made in China I would not depend on to save my life but all have a certain cool factor and I thought they'd look good in some EDC pics.

#1) Rough Rider Heart Disease Bartender's Knife with Red Smooth Bone Handle - I really kind of like this little knife, notice it has a pruning blade. $12.99

#2) Marble's Wilderness Life Saver Set - brass compass, U.S. Army Issue replica knife, and match safe $19.99

#3) Marble's Pin-On Compass $6.99 - I may try to mod this into something cooler down the road, pretty neat looking little compass

#4) Combat Ready Compass with neck lanyard $3.99 - nice small item in a cool brass case that may end up attached to a key chain

I was pleasantly surprised with all these items as each appears to be fairly high quality when handling in person. I had expected them to be just cheap goods, finding they are not at all. I also found out why people like the Rough Rider knives so much, cool factor and really nice to be so inexpensive.

GaryMc: I have several Rough Rider knives myself; seem to be OK especially for the price. I do recall though seeing some videos on YouTube (don't recall who posted them) of some Rough Rider knives in which the reviewer applied just some hand downward pressure (e.g., pressing the cutting edge onto a table cushioned with a towel IIRC) and the blade folding back over the backspring. Since then every time I buy one of these its the first thing I check for on receipt. So far so good...

Thought you might be interested -- as well as any one else reading.

I have quite a few of them as well. Working in an office they rarely do more than open envelopes but I've been happy with them.

#1 GRAIL) GRAYMAN SATU Ti-Ti FOLDER - To call this folder massive is an understatement. This knife reminds me of the Crocodile Dundee scene:

Sue Charlton: Mick, give him your wallet.
Michael J. "Crocodile" Dundee: What for?
Sue Charlton: He's got a knife.
Michael J. "Crocodile" Dundee: [chuckling] That's not a knife. [draws a large Bowie knife] That's a knife.

Guys now this is a KNIFE except built like a tank and the size of one, just WOW!!!!!! I always said I loved huge folders, loving this one too!!!!!!!! I'll be reviewing this one later with better pics and all the details. I'll do follow-up reviews throughout the year. This in your hands will make you SMILE!!!!!!

I think it would be interesting also to see this knife in a comparison with the Spyderco Techno -- a beefy knife as I understand it, albeit perhaps smaller in length?

The Grayman SATU would make the Spyderco Techno look like a dwarf by comparison, no disrespect to the Techno meant but here are the stats, the Grayman DUA Ti-Ti which I should also be receiving on Monday would be a closer comparison but even it has a 3.25"x 1.25" blade. The SATU is massive and dwarfs even the largest of some very large folders I own:

    SATU versus TECHNO SIZE DIFFERENCES
    Blade length: 4"X1.5" vs. 2.55"
    Blade Thickness: 3/16" vs. .177"
    Overall length: 9 7/8" vs. 5.98"
    Closed length: 5 5/8" vs. 3.43"

    Spyderco Techno
    length overall 5.98" (152 mm)
    blade length 2.55" (65 mm)
    blade steel CTS XHP
    length closed 3.43" (87 mm)
    cutting edge 2.33" (59 mm)
    weight 3.6 oz (102 g)
    blade thickness .177" (4.5 mm)
    handle material Titanium

    Grayman SATU
    3/16” 6AL/4V titanium Lockbar
CPM 20CV Steel blade Heat treated to 59RC, flat ground
    4” x 1.5” blade
    9-7/8 OAL, 5 5/8" closed
    .223 black G10 backstraps
    Stonewash Titanium clip
    Stainless steel hardware
    Wire EDM cut locks
3/8” pivot bushing for added strength
Stonewash liners and lockback and blades
Laser Engraved: GRAYMAN, USA, CPM 20CV

These are the largest folders I own and some of the largest on the market. For comparison against three very large folders top to bottom: ZT0302, Grayman SATU Ti-Ti, Benchmade Adamas, Southern Grind Bad Monkey Tanto
