So here's the skinny: I live in Utah, and as it turns out BladHQ's HQ (as in actual real-life store) is only 40 minutes away from me! Needless to say I'm planning to take a pilgrimage to this sacred site, and I want to know what knives I should hold in my own two hands before I shuffle off this mortal coil. What knives have you guys handled that have really changed the way you look at knives?

Just take a sleeping bag and a cooler and ask if they will make a space for you in the corner.

Sebenza, I have always wanted to see what the hype is all about. I hear you can control them with your mind :)

That one's definitely on the short list! I'm interested in the ZTs as well. Otherwise I'm sure I'll be in the dark.

I have a ZT566 and love it, but I would like to try out the 560 for comparison.

The Case display caught me off guard at Blade HQ. Gorgeous blades. I went there for a full auto though. Very cool guys down there. Knife nuts like all of us. They know what you will need to fondle. Just be careful it is too easy to drop some mad money there!

Buy ... oh, I mean try ;) a Three Sisters Forge Beast if they have one!
And handle some OTF autos for fun.

I'm planning to look at an 801. It's my favorite ZT. Classier than the 560 IMO. Of course I'll take a look at both...

Yeah, no kidding. I think I'm gonna have to decide on a firm budget and bring only cash. Otherwise I might plunge myself into financial ruin in one fell titanium-clad swoop!

As long as it's not a "safe queen" a good quality tool is always a good investment, to be handed down to other generations. At least that's what I tell my wife ;)

I fondled the Sebenza in person before I bought it and liked it. Ended up getting one. But I didn't start to understand the hype until I started cutting with it. It's an amazingly versatile cutting tool and a GREAT slicer overall.

Handle some Spartan Blades. I have a Phobos and the thing just feels great in the hand.

+1 on the ZT0801. It's one of my all time favorite knives. Check out the Boker Cox while you are there, and some of these others:

    • ZT0350
    • Lionsteel SR2A
    • ZT0566
    • Buck Vantage Pro
    • Boker Minos
I'd have to spend a year and fondle, I mean handle, them all... every knife there.

If you're into Microtech, check out some of the Marfione Customs. He does ridiculous work with his blades. Actually, any high end customs they have in stock will be awesome!
