Can I ask a question? I got the Damascus 40DD today and the QTC is in the bottom, all of my other Ds have it in the top. 1 Would that have come like that? 2 Is there a reason for it? 3 Which way does the battery go in tip down or up? 4 Does it have anti-reverse protection or could I fry it? Thanks
Until someone with a 40DD Quantum chimes in it's probably worth considering some of design differences between the SS Quantum DD and later models (D2 and Ti Custom). 1) See my earlier post here … 2) Design difference see (1) 3) Battery -ve farthest from emitter 4) AFAIK no Quantum lights have reverse polarity protection. I've not tried it as a hoot or by mistake so can't add anything.
My Quantum DD had the QTC in the bottom. My D2 has it in the top. Wherever the magnet is located, that's where it should be. Battery's should always go tip up Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
The CooYoo is nice, though the threads are a little sticky and the battery rattles and the head is pretty loose when off. I'd say not at Veleno's level of fit and finish, but a competitor otherwise. The built in micro-usb charger is cool too. Pics to follow.
I did something? I remembered reading to remove the black rubber piece. So when I got them I twisted the top off and saw the rubber doughnut ring on top and threw it away and the rubber piece in the bottom. Do I have a problem now and can I buy these somewhere? They seem to be working fine.
That isn't really disagreeing, just saying yours was different. Maybe I just have a dud. I have the copper version, you? To be clear, I would say those are pretty minor issues, and ones I'll live with especially given the price and general quality.
It sounds to me like you threw away the O-ring. It's extremely small. Mine was off the threads but I pushed it back on with a pair of tweezers. When I put it back in place the head stopped rattling.
Man I got confused reading this. Went to a whole other manufacturer and light that took Steve's name!
I'd prefer it stay with Steve's product. Confusing getting notifications and finding it had nothing to do with what you are interested in.
For what it's worth, Steve has no comment on any association between Veleno and Cooyoo. I agree that we should probably shift discussion of CooYoo lights to another thread, apologies for starting this little tangent, I was just suggesting a light to fill the void left by the discontinuation of the D2 and I fervently hope there's an exciting successor from Veleno in future. Not that I don't like the Avant, but it's not the same form factor.
I was able to get a picture of the doughnut piece. Do you need this cover piece? Should it be removed?
Gearbest got back to me. "Hi Rick, This small thin doughnut piece is mainly for protecting, heat protection, short circuit protection...Without it, the light can work normally don't have much influence. We checked with supplier, sorry to say, there isn't the single part available to sell. Hope you kind understand dear. Without the small thin piece, still hope you like your time with the CooYoo : ) Have a nice day dear! Best Regards Kathy GearBest" WOW!
I'll bet you could replace that with two small pieces of black electrical tape cut in a donut kind of circle and placed back to back but it seems like it's not really going to make much difference in the functioning of the light.
