Yes, I believe so. I'll edit that in. Thanks!
Worth adding the alternate Japanese Helix Zi, which I own, the tail is totally different and only has 1 trit. I'll post pics later.
Was the "DD" the only ones with the serial number on the bottom? I'm trying to figure out which one I have, and which emitter. I love it though. I completely removed the QTC pill, for one mode: High. I use a Ti ball chain (3mm) without any split ring or triangle coupler. Been around my neck since day one, essential EDC gear.
I believe, and correct me if I'm wrong, but all the reading I did on this would indicate that only the "DD" versions have a number on the bottom.
Also, would anyone happen to know where and what type of ball chain one can use for this light?
Thanks for the info. That means I have the DD version.
3mm ball chain fits PERFECTLY (without any split ring or triangle coupler). I mean it couldn't be more perfect. It's like the hole is 3.0001mm or something. Okay, not that tight, it still "flows" nicely, but not small enough to rattle. maaybe more like 3.0002mm or something. I bought my Ti ball-chain from (oh yeah, I'm not allowed to post links on this forum).
They have 3.2mm in SS and Black for $2, and Copper or Brass for $3, but I don't know if 3.2mm would be too large (I would think so, with how PERFECTLY 3mm fits), so you might want to go with the smaller 2.4mm option. Hope that helps.
Here is their description though, if that helps:
Titanium Ball Chain
The perfect companion for your Ti whistles, charms, dogtags etc...
Lite-weight, non corrosive, hypoallergenic Titanium!
3.0mm Is a little larger than standard ball chain.
Comes in 24 inch Lengths
(connector is stainless steel)
*for a quote on a chain longer than 24", Send us an email
Any type of chain will work if it is small enough to fit through the Quantum. I think I used a 2mm chain that came with an old Atwood, but R1200C said they use a 3mm. My chain is 30 inches long and I found it to be a good size for neck carry.
Yes, the DD had a serial number and D2 didn't. I don't remember the DD coming with a triangle connector in the package.
I'm pretty sure it did, but I didn't end up using it. I can't find my original package right now though, although I want to find it, it's been a while. I ordered three batteries at the same time - does anyone know the mAh rating on these little 10180's?
I also don't know if they ever changed the hole size, so I can only attest to 3mm being PERFECT on the DD (with serial number laser engraved below, "Veleno Designs" on its bottom. I'm thinking 3.2mm would be too big for my DD version, as 3mm fits PERFECTLY.
I'll try to take a picture, but keep in mind it freely flows through it, it doesn't bind up or anything. I should probably make a video.
I checked my old pics and no triangle on the DD. I know the D2 package says "DD" on the back so I included the front pic as well.
Weird, gonna have to find my old packaging now. You're making me feel insane. Maybe the triangle came with the extra battery capsule I got when I ordered it, I can't remember now.
Here's some visuals showing the 3mm ball chain fitment:
Steve sold them direct so that may be. I suppose they could have been added in on later batches of the DD (before the D2 was released) but I don't remember.
Is that you doing the vid?
How easy is it to break those kind of chains?
(if it was round my neck I'd want it to break real easy)

No, I hired some hands and a narrator right quick. (I do realize I pronounced, "trit" wrong though, if that's why you're rolling on the floor laughing at me.)
Pretty sure breaking-away is an inherent design incorporated in ball-chains, but I've never tried, because I don't want it to break. It's been going strong for at least a few years now, but I'm a grown man, so ain't no little ball chain going to bring me down. My neck-strength would surely disintegrate such a beady thing. I'm not worried about it, good for when you forget you're wearing it in the shower (no corrosion). Less "cold" feeling to wear.
Fantastic thread. I'd like to participate.
The Quantum is easily my favorite keychain light ever.
I got a DD first (#311) liked it so much,
I had to get a D2 (polished ) when they came out.
I only where them around my neck. I'm afraid to put one on my keys because of the Trits. I've been known to drop my keys from time to time and don't want broken Trits.

Only thing I found was to make sure you use real Stainless Steel split rings because the cheaper ones will rust in a heartbeat if you sweat just a little. I went through about three or four types before I finally came across good split rings in the correct size. Now I don't worry about them corroding when I wear mine around my neck in the summer.
Savage Gear 20mm *just* go through nicely
Might try some ball chain (after seeing how easy it is to break first)
I agree, after seeing how well the ball chain works/fits I am looking for some titanium 3mm chains in a 32" length that are reasonably priced.
I've encountered the same problem with certain split rings.
I also had this really nice pocket watch with chain. And the chain had this really cool clasp that hooked itself to the watch. So I took the cool clasp to be used for attaching the Quantum onto the ball chain.
Within a week of wearing it, my body had completely destroyed the lustrous finish.

HF's EDC Thread ...
The unique place I sourced mine from was reasonable, after I emailed him to order two: one in 30" and the other one I got in 32". It's still eleventy-billion times more expensive than the 99¢ stainless versions though, but yeah.
