Well alrighty then
They're on their way from Alaska.
I can do that too.
There's nothing stopping a severely understated dot of light
Well, I think you meant to ask, where can we get clear o-rings? Maybe silicone ones could diffuse the brighter-colored trits!
I never did get around to researching the feasibility of an immaculately cut section of undersized clear tubing after I realized that trits are a bit functionally useless on a neck light that I intend to wear ALL the time...
Great idea on the o-ring for the ball chain. I don't use a ball chain on mine but I'll have to try that out with the paracord.
But they sure are pretty...
I wish I could find a stainless MiX5, no one is selling. I saw only 1 or 2 on cpfmp in past year. So I might break down and get the 'Midas' lol, gold doesn't match my other stuff, but the compulsive flashlight-ordering part of my brain keeps telling me I must obtain a MiX5 :/
I tried that, only difference I noticed was my D2 got hotter quicker on high maybe some qtc's are just installed a bit imperfectly?
Lastly, so the DD/D2's 10180 cell is 1/3 AAA size and ~60 mAh capacity(I think I heard 60 somewhere?). Am I the only one who would buy a slightly longer 10250 (1/2 AAA size 3.7v), 10280 (190 mAh, 2/3 AAA-size), or even 10440 (AAA size, up to 500 mAh) body to use w/ my D2?
Like how oveready offers the Peak Eiger head with various body tubes: 53mm 10180, 63mm 10280, or 80mm AAA/10440. Also I noticed the MBI guy has either 10250 or 10440 bodies available with his MBI HF.
The Quantum's bullet-shape aesthetic is beautiful, but I'd like the option to swap out body tubes for the higher capacity cells.

An excellent innovative bit of thinking. Thanks for sharing!
And that black chain and O-ring setup being all murdered out on the BO (or whatever herbs and spices black coating is used) D2 ... Whoa yeah!
BTW where did the black ball chain come from? TIA
I didn't use an o ring on the ball chain. I use a paracord shell as a cover for mine, then close the ends up on the ball chain so it doesn't move. It has about an inch or two of ball chain to play on. It'll be pretty pee-eye-em-pee when I get my GITD o rings
It's the ball chain I never used from a Boker CLB Microcom neck knife. I don't know what the coating is but the shininess leads me to believe it's enamel.
Off the top of my head, USAKnifeMaker sells ball chains and connectors. It's probably similar to their "small" size. Going by their pictures, their BO probably matches the Quantum D2 better!
...now I want a D2 to do just that...
Are you coming down with the case of Quantum Pox?
No. As of yet, I still have no desire for a titanium one
I had to bail out on the ball chain...that stuff was painful on the chest hair...went back to paracord
Also, USAKM's "small" ball chain is what I use for my Ti one (where it ironically looks more like the D2 in the picture I took today!)
How about now?
as much as I love the light, I'm no where near a titanium junkie. Some of the anodized designs I've seen on titanium Quantums have been awesome, admittedly. All that is waaaay out of price range at the moment, though. I'm a budget member of the forum. I'm thinking about how awesome a D2 would be with a black chain, OD green chain cover, and GITD O-rings, though...
Received my DD, battery tube, and spare batteries yesterday. Nice little lantern. Was a pain getting some stainless split rings on it though. I would like to get some tritium inserts, but its not a must at the moment. Just hope the batteries hold up well......
