Why no one started a thread about it I don't know, but this one is for questions, opinions, and pics. I've seen them stone washed, with and without Tritium vials of various colors installed. I've read about how to glue the vials in and how to desolve the adhesive.

So I wanted to start this thread with a pic, so...

I call this one "The Way, the Truth, and the light;)

I call this one "picture of my Quantum 40DD with a trtium bead in between it and my cross pendant so that the pendant doesn't overlap so much and poke me in the chest" picture;)

So, please feel free to ask questions, and post opinions and links:)

I'm surprised that no one ever mentioned that the page of the Bible I used for the pic was 999. Doesn't mean anything, but sure attracts my attention.
Maybe it means that this light is NOT evil;)

I love my 40DD. Got it on CPF from the first run with blue trits, narrow optic, and high CRI XPG.

Been around my neck for a long time. About 9 months almost every day. Amazing toy :).

I got into the Veleno lights a little late - I just got my Quantum DD last week. Not sure how different it is from the 40DD. I absolutely adore this light, and am already looking to get some blue trits for it.

I may have to ask Santa for a SECOND one, LOL. Yeah, I can totally see me carrying two of them (one on keychain, one on a clip).

Great SAK, now that this light is getting even more exposure then it was there is no way that I'll be able to find one when I'm ready to buy! They'll be completely sold out! :(

It's more or less the same light.

Steve offered the 40DD with a few options (led tint, optic, trits) and it seems the machining is a little different. If you don't mind the powerplant (I don't) it's a tough to beat tool for the purpose :).

Argh, mine is still in the mail and according to the tracking number stuck at customs for a week now!:furious:
SAK, could you link the instructions for installing the tritium vials? And what do I have to keep in mind, if I want to stonewash it?

I have both the 40DD (on my keys) and the 44DD (carry at home at night). Love them both! I would love to carry my 44DD around my neck but have not found a chain narrow enough to feed through the hole on the tail. I see some of you using split rings on yours - what size works? And how did you get them on without scratching the finish all to hell?

    Steve Ku is the BOSS.

I'm not sure about the stonewashing, I didn't bookmark it, but a Member here just mentioned it less than a month ago. Soory to here that its stuck in customs.
Installing is easy. Once you get the trits in hand you'll see how easy. All I did was drop one in and drop a drop of Norland's on top of the hole. It ain't goin' nowhere!
In fact a generous Member here is sending me some brighter trits, though the color is a surprise. So I'll be using the info I linked about desolving the Norland's and installing the new trits:) Install is easypeasy:)

I creatively worked it on by putting a Leatherman nail file into the split ring and turned it sideways (spreading the ring just enough). I still scratched it a bit and it took a while. Far from mangled though.

You could also probably go to a beading store and find some less industrial clasps that would work easier. Even thread a chain through and attach the clasps afterwards.

I think the Quantum DD is one of the most unique flashlights to show up in the last while. I'm liking mine a lot.

I have some 2mm para-cord that I looped through the hole of the QDD and made a tiny loop with a diameter of about 3/4". I then used 550 para-cord for the necklace but any necklace will do.
