I’ve seen ads for this bag so many times, I honestly just wanted them to go away. I didn’t need it. Didn’t even want it. Looked at it online a few times. Hidden the ad more times than that. Until one day I was in a gun shop that carried them. As soon as I put my hands on it I began apologizing to it. I can’t describe it. It’s of the tactical variety that we are tending to shy away from. Too small for a tablet. Bigger than a Fanny pack but smaller than a typical sling. But it just carries so well. The contents were all in my Hillpeople Gear hip pack but is so much lighter and carries the load much mo betta! I just love it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I have the same bag in Ranger green. Fantastic bag for daily carry. Sent from my SM-G991U using Tapatalk
How is the ranger? It looks rather heather-y in pictures. I LOVE multicam but that’s my only slight gripe with this one, but it’s what the store had. Considering ordering a v. 1 in ranger since they are $40! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
It's not heathery at all, just a nice green color. Matches there Zero Dark jacket in Ranger too. When I get home I will take a picture for you. Sent from my SM-G991U using Tapatalk
That’s good to know! I might have to grab one. Carried the MC to dinner the other day and felt like I had eyes on me. Could be me projecting. Could be my hot wife and insanely captivating two year old though Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
Could definitely be any of those but I just prefer to stay away from camo patterns for EDC items but it's just my personal preference. $40 is cheap though, if I didn't have one I would definitely pick it up at that price. Sent from my SM-G991U using Tapatalk
Agreed! I went against my gray man judgement and bought the MC. Crime of opportunity I suppose. I found your thread on it from last year and I just ordered the 1.0 in Ranger green! I’ll be interested to see the difference between it and the 2.0. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
This bag is completely ambidextrous! The version 2 that is, not the 1.0. Sling points and everything. **Gahhh! Except the front-most pouch I guess** Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
I can still fit a CAT but I am admittedly running a little light. There’s a SWAT-T behind the celox tho!. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
So I decided to cancel the v1 in ranger green and spring for the v2 in black. It’s the most practical and versatile for my lifestyle. It’s fitting since I was also finally able to snag a Glock 43x MOS! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
@demPho How is the Upscale 2 working out? I’m tempted to replace my Vanquest Carbide-8 with one of these.
I’ve never had the carbide to directly compare to though I’ve been tempted, but I have to say i freaking love this thing. It’s the right size and shape, the organization works for my needs. It carries very well and the weight is dispersed well based on the layout. I have no real complaints. Only slight critique is the mesh pouch in the front panel that I use for medical is a bit loose and depending on what you have in the elastic webbing, it can push the contents of the mesh out. Nothing that a slim Med pouch wouldn’t solve to contain the contents as I currently just have them rubber banded and stuffed in there but that’s really splitting hairs. I’m glad I grabbed a black one for the majority of cases. I did however swap over to the multicam today because the event was more accepting of such a color. It’s proving to be one of my absolute favorite edc setups ever! And for the price, comparatively speaking, it’s hard to beat. Do it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
The Carbide-8 is a well-built bag with good organization...typical Vanquest quality. But, for me at least, it seems to be a little “boxy” - for lack of a better term - when carried. The Upscale is basically the same dimensions, but the extra length would probably distribute the weight/load out a bit better. This is strictly for a grab and go (quick trip to the store) when I don’t want to carry my EDC bag. The Upscale 2 might be the ticket. Leaning towards the Midwatch, but the black in your pics looks pretty good too. Appreciate the help!
I think you nailed it in your assessment. They really hit the sweet spot with the size and configuration. It really is the perfect grab and go. I can’t imagine you’d be displeased. If you get one, report back on how you like it. The midwatch is a cool color if it works for you. And they have a subscribe and save 20% option on their website right now! Thanks for the heads up on the discount. I was pretty well set on the midwatch color, but read a review that said it was more of a true navy than it appears on Viktos’ site. I checked some vendor images and it does seem to be a darker navy blue. So, I went with black...and multi-cam! I have some MC gear, but no bags so I went ahead and grabbed the MC 1.0 that’s on sale too. Had to take advantage of the discount, right? I’ll share my thoughts when they come in.
I like your style!! I’m considering rigging my MC to the back of my plate carrier. Time will tell. Eagerly awaiting your feedback. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
Anyone got photos of it in action? Also - where are they made? Wisconsin company but manufactured in?
In action as in being carried? Made in “Asia” according to their FAQs page. Not surprising and not preferable but also not gonnaworryboutit lol. Here’s some shots of the black 2.0 and its contents. Wallet, business cards and a lighter (always) in the front. Air pods in a pelican case, Leatherman Raptors, Spyderco Delica 4, Cobratec 928sb, olight OPen, boker 50 bolt pen. Surefire EDCL1-T in the bands. Camera battery and eye drops loose. Celox, swat t, some gauze, bandages, and prep wipes with gloves rubber banded and stuffed in front mesh. Sony RX100vII with SmallRig wood grip fits perfectly in the sunglasses pouch. Glock 43x MOS with Holosun 507kx2 with Shield S15 mags fits perfectly in the secret gun compartment.
