Nice score, the 42 is the best balisong for the flip, that is a reference :D

I was playing around. My point is the perfect weapon is the that is ALWAYS with you. ;)

I have nearly 2 dozen Bali's but there are some rare ones that will always stay home with me: BM 48, Bradley mayhem prototype, Spyderfly Szabofly and Dalton Digger; some others too hard to get a hold of: Cold Steel Arc Angel Wide Point and BM 46 - for the right price, that is.

Benchmade 42 next to a Wide Point Cold Steel Arc Angel.

You have a great knife. You have a Great Brother, too!

    I just got a Benchmade 48, and I purchased a BM 42MC LTD.

44 minutes ago, I got a double edged Roton.

Just out of curiosity, not to knock anything. Why are Balisongs popular? By their nature it forces a handle shape.

They are popular because they are very fun to play with, the possibility are infinite.
The balisong in itself is efficient, no risk to see the blade close on your hand during the work, one hand opening for righter or lefter without any problem. The knife can be of all size or design.
    My favorite style of knife.

Well, for most it's probably just thaat spinning them around is pretty cool.

Another thing is that, as far as folding knives go, they have one of the stongest "locks" around. As long as you can keep your grip on it, there's just no way it's going to close on your hand.

I love the knife style since it is a tool for practicing manual dexterity.

I have pairs to do manipulations. It is an art form. It is fun to learn new tricks. Even for an old dog like me.

However, when the **** my trusty Glock will be my first choice followed by my fixed blade tanto.

This a fun and dangerous Bali. Double edged spearpoint Roton.

    She may become my EDC.

The best Balis are the ones at your side.

Absolutely. A fact many detractors of the Balisong choose to ignore.

In my experience, the old Pacific Cutlery (Pre-Benchmade) Model 45 and then the utility bladed 48. After that the Benchmade 42 grew on me after a while.

The 42 makes up 50% of my practice with new and old moves.

I then flip all knives in a rotation.

The 42-100 is sweet. As the OP said it's rare. I have 3 rare knives now. My MD Caldwell is the biggest and baddest of the bunch.

    This is my FAVORITE knife:

    Perfect? I would say yes:

Les Voorhies Custom Damascus with titanium liner, Red Carbon overlay, black carbon fiber grips with a Damascus roller T-Latch. 5" knife that is Smooth as silk, quiet as a can be, light and fast!

She is the best Bali I have ever had the chance to own.

Good gracious those are beautiful. I have no pics but have owned balis in my late teens, 20 years ago. Never cut myself and learned a few fliptricks. I miss them.

You should get back into them. I bought a great video: Michael Janich's Mastering the balisong knife. I am now doing things well beyond the standard openings. The other forums sell them widely. I know from personal experience. LOL!

BTW: For all who read these threads, I must emphasize that these tricks are highly dangerous. Also, They are also NOT practical for the purpose of actual fighting. In fact these elaborate manipulations will get you killed since you can get easily disarmed. The purpose of manipulations is for the art form as an adjunct in your practice of martial arts.
