The new forum is coming along nicely but is still a work in progress.

Here is a link to the test forum. There is still quite a bit to do but we are getting there.

    http://tiforums.com/

We where not getting very far at first so I dropped much of what I do daily to make a push on the new site. Those waiting for replies to messages sorry about the delay.

Pretty bloody nice Jon! And I just noticed I got a trophy. [IMG]

I'll be honest and say I'm kinda bored with vBulletin forum software coz I've been lookin at it on various forums for years and the only things that change are themes and various permissions.

I like the SMF software I used for my music forums. It was a nice departure from VB

I'm not familiar at all with XenForo but that's a good thing. It makes a nice refreshing change from the same ol same ol

I'm not a highly skilled coder or anything even close. That was my forum partner admins area of expertise. I was left with the more simple tasks of permissions, user groups etc.

If ya need a helping hand with anything in the background I'd be happy to help if I can. I spend most of my online time on EDCF anyway so I might as well be useful instead just a lurker

I like the new look, it's goingto be a good change I think. I tried to post to check it out a little more, but I couldn't log in. I'm sure you'll get all the bugs worked out soon.

So that I will have more time. I am doing 16 hour days and get further behind each day. This is an attempt to make it easier to keep the forum going.
I can do most things faster on the new software and I will be adding time saving features as we move along.

So far, I can say it looks very nice. I must admit that I feel a little bit lost with these new colors and the whole new design. I guess that's because I'm getting older! It will take a little bit of time and I'll get used to it, I'm just a bit anxious when something I know well starts changing...

I like these ''explanation bubbles'' that appears on each titles of forums sections. Also, it's great to see the avatar of the person that started the thread...

I've been messin' around on there for the last cupola hours and i dig it!

I reckon its got some really cool and refreshing new features. Yes they will take a few hours to get used to for some folk, but once the new layout is grasped I think most of us will never look back.

And speaking from experience, anything that makes the life of the Admins and Moderators easier is a good thing, and lets not forget that They offer Their time for free. Its a voluntary job and I think a lot of regular members take that for granted.

I can hardly wait for it to go live [IMG]

I didn't need to reregister. I just logged in with my regular EDCF user name and password.

If that doesn't work for you I'd assume its just a temporary glitch. Jon will sort the bugs soon :)

Did just that initially with no joy, that's why I asked. I'm sure it is just temporary, like you said. Thanks for the response, nonetheless.

I think the database used for the test forum dates back to some time in Dec 2010, so if you joined around then your user account should be there. Otherwise your account would not have existed yet.

Looks pretty but lacks a lot of existing info from what I've seen so far. Things like go to last unread post, or indication if you have read/posted in that thread aren't there.

Might have missed it, but it seems that way to me. Also the boxes which appear seem to be a bit buggy and close themselves randomly - I'm using Firefox 9.0.1 if that's of any use.

"user not found" But I like the software and the color scheme is easy on the eyes. Time zone appears to be set to Halifax or Greenland but looking forward to making the move!
