Well, I am sure you folks will be glad to know that I am not an idiot.
I finally contacted Christy Knives for help. After several hours, I realized that sliding the button was not allowing the small pin to clear the hole in the frame. I could see under magnification what was happening. It appeared as though the little button part is a sealed unit with a spring mechanism of some sort.
I sent an email and they are just sending a new knife with return postage for the original knife.. They were embarrassed that they had "failed".
I assured they that it was merely a defective part and that the company was iconic and part of American knife history.
Can't wait for the new one to show up.
Here it is one more time (sorry but I really like this little guy)

    Thanks Tony.
For a while I did feel like an idiot. You guys were giving great advice, it just wouldn't work. I finally found a picture of one disassembled and realized how the button worked.
As I explained to Mr. Christy, I really don't need one; just wanted to own a small piece of knife history.
    New one is enroute.

I am sure I've seen this knife before but I don't recall knife name nor maker. I can't make out what the marking on the blade in the pic says. I do like the looks of it! Does it come with a pocket sheath (leather?)? or is it basically 'just' a neck knife?

    L'chaim!

Sam @indigo_wolf did most of the job so I´ll just add that the steel is bohler N695.
It was sharp out of the box, but the secondary bevel wasn´t as enven as I like so I re-sharpened it and added the little sharpening choil-well,actually the other way round.
@Reidar Chr. L. Guttormsen , it also reminds me of a pointier gnome.
I like it best with the green micarta scales-it´s called Yoda after all.

Very nice! I think I need one of those seems to be a bargain.
Did you choose the kydex or the leather sheath option?

I bought two, both with kydex sheaths. On one of them the fit is good, whith a good retention, while on the other one it is on the loose side.

I generally find that even a cheap drugstore hair dryer gets hot enough to reform kydex. I've taken the rattle and loose retention out of a couple of them that I otherwise wouldn't have felt safe using either for neck or horizontal carry.
