To settle this discussion: per Christy’s own website the standard (ie not brass version Tony Sal mentioned) knives are plated carbon-steel with stainless blades.
Quite intrigued by the Christy knives and looking to get one. Probably in brass. Can anyone tell me if the blade slides across metal when opened?
not exactly lol
there are 3 notches in the top... rail?
You push down & up to the first stop ( little blade ) then down forward and up for medium, once more for full extend.
Retract? push down and pull back to the other measures or closed.
With a little practice, its pretty smooth.
The brass is cool but getting expensive, I like it. There is a whole thread here - Christy Knife Nostalgia.
Thank you sir. The shipping is a bit much but will probably just go ahead with it.
yup, I know buddy, I have one regular in package (I heard collectors like that) and carry my brass.
Its a great little knife, with a great heritage/story and family business behind it.
Order placed. Got it in brass
Mini Griptilian for size reference
Well just got the Christy. Beautiful simplicity.
As expected, I can't get it open.
Will contact Christy.
oh! you have to push down and slide, pull up to stop in pne of the 3 notches, happened to me too lol
Ordered one of these little things. 1.6" damascus blade.
@Willy: Let me chime in and elaborate. On a Christy knife, pushing 'down' on the button means push the button towards the same side of the handle frame as is the cut edge and extending the blade whilst the button is pushed 'down'... Sometimes this little detail isn't clear when first handling the knife. And by the way, disengaging the blade to retract it requires the same action on the button but combined with pulling the blade in vs extending it.

My pleasure... learned the hard way!
I had one of these on my keychain for a bit, but took it off, as I'd find it deployed on several occasions.

Thanks to all for the help. Will keep trying. Got about 2 man-hours into it so far. Gonna keep trying.
As far as deploying in pocket, not worried. Probably will never deploy.
Just got the little damascus knife. Not crazy sharp but looks pretty good.
Production Bean Upper right.
