My little set of little knives: Case Toothpick Rainforest (Gift to myself and all my groomsmen) Bear & Sons Little Toothpick Spyderco Bug (Lives on my keychain)
ThinkGeek ("Military Heritage Miniature Knives" USMC Kabar, Fairbarn-Sykes, or EK Fighting Knife. They're all out of stock right now though.
Both of these knives are a little bigger than a Case Peanut. The top is a resolza from Sardinia, made by Senior Osai and son's. The lower is a zuava from the northern Italian region of Tuscany. I like small knives that disappear in a pocket.
My little knives; Right to left; A vintage Camillus 76 stockman made into a whittler, my brothers vintage Colonial baby toothpick, a Rough Rider peanut, my old trusted friend; Case circle C bluegrass bone SS peanut, my Dads Case Brothers chestnut bone SS peanut, and my Amherst Cutlery elephant ivory and SS canoe. Although, I don't consider the Peanut a little knife; The green one was my only carried knife for well over a year, and has been carried almost 100% of the time since, along with my other knives. Its the small knife that cuts BIG, and can keep up with and even out perform knives 4 times its size.
Maybe it's the era I grew up in, but I've never understood the big edc knife thing. When I was a kid, everyman who had pants on had a pocket knife in one of the pockets. And it was always the traditional small two bladed jack or pen knife. It's really amazing how much can be cut with a small knife like a peanut. With the exception of for processing, or skinning big game, a 2 inch blade is most all you need on a daily basis. Until the big knife trend hit in the 1960's with the Buck 110, most all men I knew growing up got things done very well with a small pocket knife. Heck, in his book "Press On" Chuck Yeager talks about going light in his back packing/fishing trips in the Sierra Nevada mountains and using his Victorinox executive as his only knife.
the Vic Executive is slightly larger (2" blade) than the Classic, but has a much more usable pair of scissors.. and you get a spiffy citrus peeler
Yup!! And hits your fault I found out about it too, your posts at blade forums traditional form are what made me get that green Case a few years back
In that case, (pun fully intended!) you can buy the first round if we ever meet up, to thank me for the cutlery enlightenment!
