Dug this out from a box of my dad’s stuff.
He has been gone for a while, but never forgotten. It is still sharp. Trying to sort, bag and label items he left so my kids will know what they are and why they are important to me.

    Wise words!

My favorite traditional pattern is the stockman. While I like all 3 of the blade types, the sheepsfoot is the main reason that the stockman is my go-to pattern for traditional slipjoints. It's *PERFECT* for slicing tape, cutting down boxes, or opening clamshell packaging. Which is 90% of what I need a knife for, anyway, lol.

In fact, I find the sheepsfoot blade to be so useful that I don't leave the house without one. It's a mandatory element of my EDC loadout. Of course, the sheepsfoot doesn't have to be on a stockman... but it almost always is.

I'll throw in an honorable mention for Sodbusters and Peanuts too.

Oh man, Schrade USA made great knives. I have a bunch of them. They aren't the prettiest knives, but the build quality is excellent. I was going through my collection awhile back and I was surprised by how crisp and snappy the blades were. It broke my heart when they went under.

The Chinese Schrades aren't bad, but they don't hold a candle to the originals.

G10 Manbug. It seemed expensive when I bought it a few years ago. Now they're ridiculously expensive if you can find one on eBay.

Carried my Christy knife again. I'd forgotten what a nice little urban/suburban slicer this ones. So light and compact it disappears when dropped in a pocket, but cuts like the dickens when you need it. I'd also forgotten how much I loved the choice of blade length to use for different jobs, and easy slide button operation.

No wonder I've owned a Christy knife or three since I was a kid.
