I see a lot of EDC pics with handguns in the mix and I ask myself do that many people really EDC a gun or are they just showing it off in the pic. I'm not against them, I own several myself and though I would love to EDC a gun it isn't legal to carry one where I live. I'm not familiar with the laws in most states, is it so easy to do around the country in general? Or am I naïve, and everyone is just doing it anyway? I just figure that I would get caught somehow long before I ever really needed to have one with me at all times.
In many states, handgun permits are issued to any law-abiding adult with a clean record who applies. In some states there are different rules regarding training and fees, and some require no permits at all. I personally don't carry on my person much of the time, but I do have a permit. Since I'm moving to California later this year I guess it's a good thing I don't carry often so when it changes to "never" it won't be as big of a deal to me.
60/40 split I think. Some people show them off. There is no street finish on them at all. anyone who does EDC a handgun knows what I mean. The others who do either live in open carry states or have permits to carry I suspect.
Not there yet! I'll be moving to the area NE of Sacramento sometime before the fall, if things go according to plan.
I don't photo my ED sidearm, I do most of my posting from work and it is verboten here. Glocks don't show much street patina unless you use a leather holster in an gritty environment.
I agree with the Glock finish thing. I have just seen a bunch of high end Kimbers and such in Pristine holsters no wear what so ever.
I won't choose to protect myself from violent crime because a handgun it too heavy, or bulky is the opposite of good reasoning. Just my two cents.... I carry everyday, and my Glock has slight wear on the top front corners. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I always thought the percentage of people who post hands guns was rather low on this forum. Especially when you consider members that are LEO or other jobs that require a gun
I have a few firearms I really don't want them known in the public space in particular any defensive firearms I might or might not have.
If I'm out of bed and have clothes on, there's a full sized 1911 on my hip. The majority of the US states have some form of CCW law. New Hampshire has the best version. No permit needed. IF its legal for you to own it, its legal for you to carry it.
I think you are referencing Vermont. "Vermont Carry" or "Constitutional Carry" does not require a permit to carry concealed, this is also the law in Wyoming, Alaska, Arizona and most of Montana. Many states do not require a permit to open carry, and most staes will issue you a permit after you take a class and submit to a background check and finger printing.
Yep, you're right on NH. I go them confused with Vermont. New Hampshire is who issued me a non-resident permit years ago. All I had to do was mail the application, $20, and a photocopy of my TN permit. It was helpful back then, because it gave me reciprocity with states that didn't have agreements with TN yet.
I suppose i would carry if I could legally do so, it is kind of a scary responsibility though when I think about it but I guess the same thing could be said about driving a car down the road. Living in CA, it is just such a foreign concept to me that I often forget it is legal in many other states. I should remember when viewing those photos that the "here" of the internet is "everywhere" and not just my own little world of CA.
