I see your point, I guess I just meant that it's solely a cosmetic issue which doesn't affect the functionality of the tool.

Most of the wear on mine is here, at the pivots. I haven't put it through a whole lot of use though. I'm actually kind of looking forward to that "Boba Fett" worn look.

mate, it's all about priority. sometimes, it's just not worth the effort. sometimes.. why not? you have few hours to kill, and the other side is just being impolite as hell. :)

I used to make ink for a technical pen manufacturer. Some colors fade quicker than others due the nature of the base oxide, etc. Some of those don't mix or emulsify well so it weakens to whole formula. So what we have here is a ceramic base that has to be colorized which will be suspended in a mixture of vocs, and a resinous material like epoxy. To this is added a hardener just before application. So, either the multitool's metal was not degreased properly, or the hardener ratio was not accurate, or it's a "problem color" to begin with. If it's a manufacturing problem you definitely won't hear that from customer service.
So either live with the "patina" or do a little yelping here or over the net to gauge other customer's experience with orange. Coatings alway wear. I stick to plain jane base metals with no bling additives.
You're in customer service. You'll play nice as long as you can. Then "supervisor please". Oh, letters to the CEO tend to get noticed too. Enjoy the tools underneath the color!

Sorry, just noticed your message kiloromeo96
That depends, if you're not after them ASAP you'll find some deals online that make the UK price very similar to US, with much less chance of things going wrong. But you'll have to search high and low and wait a loooong time.

You could use a mail forwarding service or find somebody in the US willing to help. I found my experience with this method top notch due to my helper! Have a search on websites, write down prices that you find (for both US and UK sites) then use the current exchange rate to figure out the difference in price and if the benefits outweigh the drawbacks to you. Don't forget to factor in postage.

Any questions, feel free to shoot me a PM.

Decided not to follow it up past that email. Didn't want to inconvenience/pester anyone as at the end of the day the tool is still functional and I'm enjoying it. Most of what's left of the coating is almost starting to bubble so I think your hunches on why it's happening are correct!
