Decided to get a large, ruled royal blue Leuchtturm1917 after reading this thread this morning. I like Moleskine, but really like that this kind has page numbers, table of contents, and a date line. Was more expensive than I'd prefer but it should last me awhile so that's ok. Going to use it as a journal to record thoughts/experiences on the significant EMS calls I run.

My Leuchtturm 1917 arrived yesterday (the seller sent it as 2-day shipping even though I selected standard!). First impressions is that it's awesome. Love the extra details that Moleskine doesn't have, ie the page numbers, table of contents, and labels. Definitely looking forward to using it to record my memorable EMS experiences :)

Please tell me you're not going to sully the pages of that lovely journal with a ballpoint?

I'm guessing a Parker Jotter is a ballpoint? If so, then yes. Hey I've been using Walmart pens and random free pens all my life. I just made the giant leap to buying a Fisher Bullet Space Pen and three Parker Jotters in the past week or two. That's as fancy as I ever plan to get.

I use Picadilly notebooks.... mainly because I'm cheap and they're on par with Moleskine quality wise and about half the price. I do like the Lechturm 1917 though. Looks a bit more refined that the Moleskine brand. I may have to buy one just to see what I've been missing out on.

That's where mine goes:) I have an Occidental leather front pocket wallet with just a few cards,photos,I.D., and a few bills. I trim the back cover just enough to slip in a card slot and the rest goes over the cards in front. The first time I tried it I sliced the whole thing down 1/4", but the cover started delaminating right away.

I've been using Rhodia pocket notebook (3x5) myself recently. Very nice. Best I've tried so far.

Just to clarify, better than what? Moleskine? Everything? ;) Better in what way?

Just trying to get things sorted...

Staples just came out with a new line of product, Poppin, that includes Moleskin-sized pocket notebooks. These have the additional of a narrow column on each edge of the page which would be useful if you were creating an indexing scheme as well as a place for title and date, plus an extra field. Plus, being a chick, I have to say, they come in all kinds of pretty colors. ;) Mine is an aqua blue.

Now to find them where I am.It's mostly Moleskin here but I like the lighter lines and grid of the Leuctturm.

I'm also a graphic designer and the amount of different notebooks I've tried is somewhat infuriating! I'll definitely give these a go when I've used up my last few.

On another note, that ink colour is absolutely gorgeous.

Looking for a Leuctturm or Rhodia locally. I'm not much of a writer or jotter but the Leuctturm grid is inspiring me to really keep a journal to jot down ideas and random thoughts. My past notebooks weren't too inspiring.

I'm reviving my Sheaffer gold fountain pen.
Any recommendations for constant airline travel? I'm afraid of fountain pens leaking so I just use a Parker .7 gel when I travel.
Or something I can put in a tactical pen?

I dumped Moleskine for Rhodia notebooks a few years ago. While I was satisfied at first with Moleskine, once I got a taste of Rhodia/Clairefontaine paper, I couldn't go back. I still have some MS notebooks that I write in, but man, my fountain pen ink sure does bleed through.
