I need a tactical beer can opener for emergency dryness situations!
Unfortunately, the hipsters seem to be targeting the things I've been enjoying for decades ... Pendleton wool shirts, Carhartt work and outdoor clothing, brands like Filson and Frost River, Triumph motorcycles ... if I started wearing RayBan glasses and grew a full beard, I would probably be branded a hipster.
Well, we could always hope they start targeting the mall ninja crowd and make "tacti-cool" a mainstream fascination.
I think this Hipster topic needs a spinoff thread of its own.
in other words, you liked all those things before they were cool?
Hipster is trendy around here to the point of being fashionable. It's ceased being somewhat of a counterculture (like tactical once was) and has become more mainstream. For example, I used to regularly get funny looks because of my Filson Packer hat and odd comments because of my old beat up sneakers (which I use as beater shoes when I don't want to ruin any decent shoes) but now I get looks of envy.
It's not necessarily a bad thing, just an interesting change. The trends went from saggy pants to tacticool to old school in a fairly short time. All three are polar opposites of each other.
I'm probably overthinking this
P.S.- a thought on Filson. Did the new, trendy, slimmer Seattle cut predate the Filson and heirloom gear trend, or did the trend predate the cut? From my perspective I noticed them at about the same time. Thoughts?
They wear practical. pragmatic, reasonably priced clothing in an ironic way.
Thankfully I have no beard so I can enjoy my polarized Ray-Bans that fit me like a custom pair of shades. (Plus, I didn't pay a moronic amount of money for them.)
Only if it's a cookbook.... Though I seriously doubt hipsters would be tasty.
To Serve Hipsters
I'd rather eat out of a dumpster. Quality of the food would be better.
thePlumbah: Found this, thought you'd need one
If they're the sort of hipster that insists on only eating organic/local food, they'd probably be about as safe as dumpster-dived stuff from behind an upscale supermarket. I would advise against eating the tattooed portions of the skin and any unhealthy-looking pierced bits, but the rest of the hipster should be pretty tasty if cooked properly.
Not that i think about this sort of thing on a regular basis or anything. I just watched/read Silence of the Lambs a lot as a kid and am a fan of the Hannibal tv series.
Bah! Vegans!! They would taste disgusting!
Vegan is just shorthand for "free range grass-fed"
I prefer my Vegans full of bloody chow and hormones.
Ridiculously overbuilt, lots of molle straps and D rings. Typically twice the weight and three times the packed size of comparable civilian outdoor gear. Only available in solid black, olive drab, coyote brown, or various camo patterns.
... and with hook and loop velcro

Vegan is an old indian word for poor hunter.
