I think he wanted something with nifty optics and rails all over the foregrip. I really don't know, so we tried to sell him a $400 scope and just as expected, he left.

I would have scooped up the Tactical onesie... Molle on the back, I would have stuck a fak, diaper pouch, and a formula hydration bladder on my daughter... Not to mention a binky retractor.

So if I let a ham sandwich get moldy and green it is still not tactical until I put Molle on it? But a tactical lunch box is tactical without it?

What's tactical and what isn't get can so confusing.

The guys in WW1, WW2, and Korea obviously were not tactical. Even my father with 27 years of military service in both the Korean and Vietnam war didn't use the word tactical. He did say the word tactics however.

I have no problem with someone wanting something that has military or whatever look to it.
It used to be the (Army, Marine, Navy, Air Force, Coast Guard) socks were called military or by branch of the service but they were not called tactical.

I think the word 'tactical' has also become a way for people to identify themselves as cool kids. If you rag on it, you get a club membership card.

"You know how not tactical I am? I only shoot single shot Rugers!"

"Oh , yeah? I'm so not tactical that I cut my left arm off. That's how much I hate foregrips!"

    Etc.

We all worry too much about what other people do.

If you don't carry it every day, it's not every day carry.

Just an off-topic heads-up. For long-lasting washer and dryer, take a look at Speed Queen.

I work with an appliance tech, and in his 25 years of appliance sales and repair, he's only had to work on THREE Speed Queens.

That's compared to at least three of any other brand PER MONTH.

Avoid Samsung and LG. They're cheap to buy for a reason...

here's a tactical umbrella. apparently the main body of it is made to be very springy so it won't break when you smack a heavy bag with it? other than standing on it, I think you can do the same stuff with a regular umbrella.

It's for self-defense. I heard that although normal umbrellas look sturdy, they'll only last 1 or 2 whacks. Seems more useful than a tactical pen at least.

I used to have a folder of nothing but pictures of mall ninja and butchered "tacticool" guns.
There is a few "tactical" things that were made for fun and games and received as such (like the Battle Mug and the Kabar pistol bayonet. Both were made as a novel product).
But things like the 5.11 tactical kilt... *shudders*

Edited to remove a thought that, in retrospect, was wrong in its entirety.
I have noticed that most actual military surplus is cheap because it was made in such large quantities that the supply is gargantuan and, due to the faux tactical invasion, the demand is comparatively infinitesimal. However, make it new, black, MOLLE webbed, slap "high speed low drag WROL tactical operator gear" on the tag and mark up the price by 50% and you can't keep it on the shelves.
I have seen tactical canned bacon. I have also seen tactical toilet paper. I have considered buying tactical boots from a big name before, but the same boot that was just military surplus and not civilian was $50, as opposed to $150-200 for the tactical version.
I, personally, am sick and tired of seeing "tactical" all over the place. Any one hand opening knife is tactical and therefore scary now. Any piece of modular nylon gear in subdued colors is tactical. It has gotten out of hand.

    No.. Not really?
I will agree to pretty much everything in this thread, Except this. Its like saying 'you dont deserve a chefs knife because you suck at cooking'.. Who are you to judge? Do you draw beautiful art with your pencils? Or write a novel because you have a fountain pen?

If people want nice stuff.. Let them, its none of my buisness. I will never use my Rush12 to its breaking point.. And so what? Do you feel more like a real operator by writing a statement like that?

You should google 'Law of Jante' on wikipedia.. I think you will find it very interresting

    @thekapow
Fair enough and an excellent point. I think, on rereading my post, I could have worded that better.
I was trying to say that, while it's a great idea to have quality gear, it seems like many people overpay for gear that is simply branded as "tactical" and "hard use". In many cases, the same gear can be had for cheaper without the "tactical" on the label.
Before I dig myself deeper into this abyss I have created for myself, I will back out. I sincerely apologize for any offense I have caused, and I will be editing my post to remove the horrible wording of a half-baked thought on my part.
